Not much out there to replace him - jchst22
Shallow free agency pool is no excuse to pay Bonino close to 5 mil a year. If something can't be worked out with one of the handful of UFAs for a reasonable deal (Bonino included), then Rutherford should explore trade avenues for a low priced value player, just like he did with Bonino. |
|
|
|
PLEASE tell me no one is truly considering under 5 mill is a legit offer for Jumbo. I wouldn't offer more than 1.5 for 1 year for him.
Pay Bonino. 4 years, 3.5 - 4 per.
Say NO TO JOE!!! - Doogs
Agreed, 3 years is a loooooonnnng time for a guy who's 38
How'd that Kunitz deal work out for us? Gave him 4 years during a career season at 34 and he (although had nice possession #'s) crapped the bed in the scoring department these last 2
Joe might talk me up to 1 year 4 million, If he insists on 2 years, he gets 7 MAX!!

2 years at 5 mil per year would be good with me. Management is also in love with "toughness" and jumbo joe does not take poop from anyone |

Kunitz deal worked out fairly well. Earned his salary for most of his contract and this year was just bit overpaid |

But with his vintage-Kunitz play the last 7 games of the postseason...all is forgiven |

Yohe reported recently that Cullen may not retire. If he comes back, I'd like to see him treated like a goalie, resting on back to backs and getting the occasional non-back to back game off to keep him fresh. There were times last year where he looked like he didn't have much left in the tank. |

I can't remember why the Bruins soured on Joe. If sully was on that coaching staff I wonder if he'd even want him today. For the record I couldn't be more on board with jumbo ad a 3c - Mattkriz
They didn't really "sour," but the team really sucked at the time and it was a poorly kept secret that he wasn't really interested in a rebuild. |

If the Pens knew that then moving Sunqvist makes more sense with the emergence of Rowney. Oshie got 5.75, Eaves got 3.15 per. I would think Bonino's number would be closer to Eaves??? comments? |

Are you people crazy? If Joe expressed interest in a 1 year deal, I would throw all of the money at him. Joe is a playmaking assist machine. Joe passes puck, team scores. You offer Bonino nothing and offer Joe everything. |

Why does RW want a guy sooo bad who is 38 coming off knee surgery asking for coin never shoots the damn puck scored 6 goals in 2 yrs... hard no. Keep this curse away.
Dont want to pay bones either but all the regular season secondary assists in the world cant replace the block shots and clutch goals it takes to win the cup.
They must not have a chart for that |

Not quite, he had just signed a bridge deal in the offseason before the trade, but the team was terrible and Jumbo (understandably) didn't want to be part of a rebuild that looked like it would take a lot longer than it actually did. |

Im not so sure I would go with that theory as the only. He was traded for nothing players, i guess Sturm was ok. They barely shopped him (mike keenan admitted there were 2 other teams called, him being 1 and his owner didnt have the money to pay him otherwise he wouldve been a Panther).
If anything there had to be some locker room problem or something mixed with ownership. And as usual Joe didnt do well in the playoffs. |

Well the savings helped bring in Chara. He wanted out it was fairly known. They wanted to build the Top 6 around Bergeron (probably the right call). It's also an age old Boston sports media tradition to label a superstar a malcontent right after they leave town. My whole point is if it was about Jacobs being cheap he wouldn't have signed Chara the following offseason. |

And yeah he didn't do well in the playoffs but the team's in the 4th decade of a drought, nobody did well in the playoffs. |

Slow down. No one said anything about Marleau. Don't need him at all.
Sheary Crosby Guentzel
Rust Malkin Sprong
ZAR Thornton Kessel
Reeves Rowney Horny
Still have Hagelen, Wilson, Kuhnhackle, Archie,
Absolutely no room for Marleau |

This is such a strange label. Jumbo has always produced well during the playoffs. This is like people saying Crosby and Malkin disappeared during the playoffs before they won the Cup again last year. I feel like if you don't win a cup, you get labeled a playoff lemon. |

I think it has a lot to do with losing to lower seeds, which happens in the NHL more than any league |

You're right, I misspoke, I dont think he is as bad as what is perceived. My intention was to highlight the year before his trade when he was completely shutout I believe by Mtl? |

It's funny how you put Sprong Top 6 right off the bat, handed a 3rd line spot to Aston-Reese and put Horny in the 4th line.....while scratching Hagelin! wow
Hopefully Sprong is ready for the big time! New Guentzel on the waiting
