Speaking of Las Vegas, wonder when are they gonna start spinning some of those defensemen out of there? They probably need to move, what, at least three of them just to have a regular rotation of guys, even if they carry eight - AllInForFlyers
They saw clips of Byfuglien playing both forward/defense so theyre assuming that's how it works |

Great TANK roster flyers need more high end assets. |

Lehtera will be in there and Laughton will be with the Flyers too. I would expect Vecchione to maybe get some AHL time at the beginning of the year depending on how camp turns out. Either way it should be 14 forwards with Leier (15) having a chance to make the team. |

Those lines are a mess..
Who knows how it will actually pan out, but I think it ends up more along the lines of..
Weal/TK-Giroux-Simmer
Weal/TK-Couts-Voracek
Lindblom-Patrick-Filpulla
Raffl/Read-Laughton-Weise/Lehtera |

But...but...whose gonna score all those goals we lost from schenn - Just5
Schenn barely scored at ES, so it's possible whoever ends up in his spot outperforms him there.
As for the PP, 17 PP goals is a lot, but it's not like he was the focal point of the unit or anything. Say, if the other 4 guys all chip in a couple of extra goals, and the person who's in Schenn's slot scores 7-8 PPG, then you basically have a wash.
The guy scored 25-goals.... not 40-50. He's replaceable by committee or with just a single player stepping up. |

It seems to that there is some kind of new math going on. Even with the new additions, Schenn's scoring will absolutely be missed. It will still be less than it would've been with the new players and Schenn. When you're a team that had issues scoring, you don't take a 25 goal and 50 point forward out of the lineup and not miss that. The other narrative is that Schenn is not a good 5 on 5 scorer. He certainly wasn't last year, neither was Giroux. Neither was the entire team. However in 15/16, Schenn had a solid scoring season at ES. it's not going to be a wash in the short term, it's a loss. The question is how will it turn out for the future? It was a return that was hard to pass up.

Don't forget they're replacing Bellemare and Vandevelde too. It will be a wash, at minimum |

with his age and production, I was a little surprised he was let go. There were warts on his game, but that could be said for all the core guys. The major question is who replaces him in certain situations? Bottom line is they have missed playoffs two out of the last three years. Some of kids coming are offensive guys....no use in playing them in bottom 6 role....that's not what got them to the dance.

It won't be a wash. Even if it is, is that the goal? This idea that they're not going to miss Schenn's offense this season is absurd.

A good team needs 3 scoring lines. Plenty of space to add better players even with Schenn here.
