I liked that one better, personally.

despite the ranking of Poehling and somewhat falling to Montreal, it seems like a real long term pick for Montreal. At least another year in University then after his time there for sure he'll have to do time in the AHL. For a team that may need help at centre as soon as next year they're really taking a wait and see approach. Will probably pan out as an NHLer though guys who are considered two-way at the draft usually don't become top 6 players. There are exceptions nonetheless. |

Per Galchenyuk's agent tonight: talks are "heading in right direction". No timetable. Wouldn't bank on #Habs trading him unless fetch is BIG |

He's worth more to the Habs right now than the potential return he would bring, after last season, his value is not that high.
i'm just afraid of his knee problems if they commit long term. |

Montreals annual USHL project that'll eventually bust. Another poop draft. Big surprise. Why sign a kid from the CHL that plays 60-70 games a season when you can get a kid that plays 28-36 against lesser talent that scores 7 goals!!!
Isn't Churla in charge of scouting our busts now?? |

On the contrary. Poehling played in the NCAA this year, against guys who are 20-24 years old. |

Ok good to hear. I just assumed it was poop. Wasn't he the youngest in the league too?
I was just disappointed because i never heard of him and thought they went off the board. I turned the tv off before the kid left the stage.

I think they drafted a special player in Joni Ikonen, hopefully he's not the next Collberg. |

Definitely excited about that kid!! Wasn't too pumped about Fleury that finished with a -98 in the last 2 seasons. That made me laugh!
The goalie that they drafted in the 7th round? Any good? |

No idea.
As for Fleury, apparently he played on a very bad team
EDIT: their stats this year: 14-46-0-12 |

Jesus!!!
That won't help at all!!
I was hoping MB would grow a pair and move up to get Vilardi or a more "ready" centreman? This 1st rounder reminds me of McCarron. |

As they do every year, they'll tell you they tried to move up but couldn't make a deal... |

You're right... at 24 in the NCAA you shouldn't be considered "lesser talent"

At least he can skate, and fast. McCarron just plain sucks. When i saw Vilardi fall i really thought MB would make a move, especially since Timmins like him. Kings' management team must be pleased... |

Don't think Habs had the assets to get de 10th overall pick, especially considering Vilardi was still on the board. |

YESSSS!
I'm trolling around but let's be honest, the NCAA isn't known for being the best development league.
It's a gamble (like most drafted players) and the kid might end up playing in the NHL in the bottom 6. That wouldn't be a terrible thing. I just don't expect great things from him.
Only kid I see helping the Habs in a top 6 role is Ikonen. Time will tell if the 2017 draft was another abysmal year for our drafting department or if it's one of those 5 1st pick kind of year. |

Well...at least they replenished their D prospect pool...since they can't draft decent defensemen they might as well pick tons of them hooping one will pan out.

My guess is that Poehling will play one last season in St.Cloud and then he'll play in Laval as a 19 year old if they think he's ready.
