Do you know where the Shattenkirk talk involving the Sabres was coming from ? that would be a huge mistake IMO, I was reading his looking for 7 mill a year.
- SABRES 89

No, just that he's the best Dman available in FA and we need Dmen and Murray always gets his man er...

$7M might be a stretch. I don't think it's totally out of whack, but he'll certainly get something North of $6M.

I think Dreger linked us to him yesterday.

I think they'll gamble that Housely might be able to turn Bogosian into a player. And if he can't, then he'll be bought out or buried in Rochester in 2018-2019.

Maybe they gamble on Ennis too. Moulson is a lost cause. He won't be able to play with the pace required. I think he ends up in the AHL.

I'd rather bury him if his play doesn't improve, sure, you get the full hit minus $950K, but at least you're not paying him for nothing and have a hit on top of it.

Just wanna collate the catchphrases from draft weekend:

"couldn't do a single pull-up."

"5'9" 130 lbs"

"could've had David Farrance of Rochester"

anything else?

it's something that will play itself out over the next few years...liljegren dropped to 17th and he's at least two probably three years away from having a legit shot in the nhl...a lot can change
- Michael Pachla

Season in Sweden, then maybe a season in the AHL. Then the NHL. I doubt it will take 3 seasons, but you never know

No defense until the 3rd round should be in there somewhere

David Pagnotta-

Kings continue to search hard for a top-line winger. Their goal is to bring one in soon, preferably a LW.

On two fronts for the Buffalo Sabres - Evander Kane trade talks and 1st round pick Casey Mittelstadt:

One team exec with some damning words about the Sabres left winger for potential suitors: “Stay away.

“He’s the guy everyone in the locker room hates. As much as he is skilled, you’re talking about issues, maybe if you have a strong room, but I would not move a significant asset for him because he will stir the pot with his teammates. He’s the Jeremy Giambi of hockey; I wouldn’t give more than a third-round pick for him... I suppose they got a gift with Mittlestadt at 8, but I’ve heard how that kid can be checked into the ground

Lol like that's a problem ( remember we were going to make Stamkos the highest paid NHL player at one time lol)

If TP wants a guy no problem backing up the money truck it just has to be up to the player if he wants to sell his soul

If they're trying to "win now"
then trading for Kane would make sense

But it would also make sense that they aren't gonna send us back Muzzin or Martinez...

Idk what we'd get back from them?
They don't have extra defensemen
I'm guessing prospect(s) &/or pick(s)

Stamkos is a legit 1C
Shatty is not a "top pair" defenseman

Maybe their first next year, lottery protected? If Muzzin or Martinez aren't coming back, the only other player that would interest me is Kempe and I doubt LA does that. Obviously Kempe is a forward as well, but may fit into our "window" a little better given his age.

I mean if we somehow get rid of Bogo frees up 5 million right there
And we're basically just adding another million or two for Shattenkirk

Would u take it

If we can somehow reel in Shatty for 6-6.5 I'd be happy. I would also tie a 1st or 2nd rounder for someone to take Bogo's contract afterwords however

If the price of losing Bogo didn't cost a first rounder and more...yeah. Issue is that we aren't in the place to be spending 1sts on cap dumps. I understand you'd get Shatty for free via free agency, but I don't think we should be trading away high end picks at this point. Sounds like it would take either that or a good prospect to entice someone.

Hopefully Housley can help him this year and we can find a taker next offseason.

There's no reason whatsoever to throw away draft picks to send bad contracts away. We're 21m under the cap, gorges contract expires after this season, bogos and ennis's in 2 years and moulsen in 3. Can buy out moulsen and the other 3 are gone soon enough
