hamonic 14 points

-21

beaulieu, 28 points
1 minute per game less ice time than hamonic
+8

one costs a first and 2 second rd picks

one costs a 3rd

one turns 27 in a few weeks
one still has a few years before he hits his stride

How dare you interfere with people's pessimistic misery with your paltry facts. What's next? Are you going to claim that a player can improve under a different coach/system?? This former first rounder clearly has no talent or upside, and we paid dearly for him...

And then the female doging continues. So, how does one win? Make savvy trades.

Beaulieu, a former 1st, for a 3rd, which is 3-4 years away, if he makes it to the NHL.

- TheSabresTaco

I would rather do the Beaulieu deal 100 times as opposed to the Hamonic trade. You can legitimately make the case that Beaulieu is the bettrer player

That's the obvious. And I hear he's into VERY bad things off the ice.

If I was trying to trade you Bogo and Moulson, what would you want from me?

Nothing .. The gm is probably thinking we're not going to be Good next year
Probably thinking next year would be a good time too get rid of them

The Montreal forum on here seems to have been made up of mostly the opposite mindset. Pittsburgh is nearby and they'll be going for the 3peat next year. I'm sure they could take in one more new fan

Pretty sure he would whine too much...cause they only won by 5 goals and not 7.

That was some fun back reading.

Criticisms of Evander Kane may or may not be racially motivated by some or most folks. I won't claim to know, but the comparisons to Patrick Kane are apples and oranges. Patrick Kane is a perennial MVP candidate, 3 time Stanley Cup Champion. In short, when it comes to what a player does for my hockey team, I am much more inclined to put up with what Patrick Kane does, whether or not it was worse than what Evander Kane has been accused of (it was).

The problem with Evander Kane is this: his production, while good this year, was the exception, not the norm for his career. Even if he was a white choir boy that came from Brantford Ontario, the 6 year deal still wouldn't be worth it for a team with as many holes as this, not with the money they have tied up at the forward position already. Figure out a way to move Okposo, and it's a different conversation.

Sarcasm aside, I think Ekholm is an example of a talented young player making huge strides under a coach (Housley). Let's see what he can do with Boullieu.

I wouldn't sign him for more than a week for $10. He probably beats women weekly.

Hamonic's golf score is better.

Beaulieu is at best an ECHL defenseman like EIkal.

- TheSabresTaco

Beaulieu will get an early start to golf season in Buffalo

this story is still in the early stages

It is what it is.. Most likely going to be a lottery team next year

I guess he's not going to make that many moves so he can get rid of those contracts next year

- GERBE!!!75PTS

The offseason just started.

With all the apparent turmoil around some of the vets/younger players, there is a 0% chance we go into next year with the same roster

I think you are severely overrating Eichel.

Beaulieu is not a top 4 D-man, give me a break.

Nothing Botterill can do, Murray squandered our assets on O'Reilly, Kane and Lehner.

- hawk33

How DARE he bring in a undoubted 1C and top line LW with 30 goal seasons!! He might not have hit the goalie perfect but hes better than what we had... HOW DARE MURRAY!!! HOW DARE HE!!

Armia is scoring like 10 goals a season, Grigorenko was left unprotected w/ 23 pts in 75 games, Zadarov got 10 pts in only 56 games and was demoted to the AHL, Lemieux was NEVER going to sign here and potted 19 pts in 61 AHL games (I think we have quite a few of THESE type of guys)..... The one that hurts me the most is Compher. I think Compher would be a badass 3C on this team next year.

This draft was a crapshoot to begin with. Botterill trusted his scouts, drafted BPA, didn't reach in the first 2 rounds, and didn't make any drastic trades that could hurt us.

I think he knows that we would need some good cohesion and play to make the playoffs this year but is unsure if we can actually make it. I'm fine with it. I give the process under a new GM and Coach a year or so to get things moving.

Casey is going to be a very interesting to watch when all is said and done he could be up there with Nico for the best player someday

To being out of shape and still have the fastest speed think about when he works out and his body's in Tip-Top shape he could have a whole new level that we don't even know about yet .. that's exciting

I'm not paying Calgary's price for Travis (frank)ing Hamonic. Besides, he wasn't going to an EC team anyways.

What was essentially Panarin for Saad.. it was clear each team wanted a player in return. Columbus is loaded with 200' players and Chicago was better with Saad. Tell me, what player on our team (not pick) gets us either player? Tell you right now, Kane sure as poop doesn't.

Then there's Hjalmarsson. A 30 year old 3-4 dman. Ok, he could help us in the short term. Something Botterill is openly against. So he's traded for a more developed version of Will Borgen and Cliff Pu. And he had a modified NTC.

Eberle for Strome. Two underachieving players, one with a bloated contract. A less effective Okposo for the same price on the right side, where we don't have a need.

Botterill did the right thing by avoiding all of these trades.

I think I would have preferred Tippett in that slot because they said he had the best shot of all forwards in this draft which tells me that he is more NHL ready sooner but he didn't have the high ceiling and 200 ft game of Mittlestadt. I really can see him doing a Clayton Keller and 1 and done in college but it'll depend on his growth.

He also didn't trade a 1st round pick for a 4th liner like Ryan Reeves like his former team did either.
