Can't believe the hate for JB on here, expecially over the fact that he didn't move moulson, ennis, Bogo or gorges. I'm sure he could have gotten McPhee to take one if he way overpaid, which is something we cannot afford to do.

Playoffs should not have been thrust on this team by ex management for this year. We all hate the defence, how the hell does JB fix that in under two months?

Free agency hasn't even started and ppl are ready to hang him.

Im waiting for the "why werent we on alzner" posts after he signs with some team for 5 mil

OMG man it's just the draft. Like a handful of teams made any type of move.

A lot of the media saying Toronto got the steal of the draft is Canada based. Not to mention in Toronto.

I remember TSN and theScore saying we were a disgrace to the NHL because we were tanking. Then when the Leafs did it they were rebuilding the right way.

I keep hearing on the radio how the Leafs got the steal of the draft. Ever since winning the Babcock sweeps it seems like nothing can go wrong for the Leafs.

Steal of the draft belongs to Nashville.

And, GmBotts better get his poop together fast...he has so far ignored the bluelIne except for getting another, albeit younger, version of Bogo.
Moslow and Gorges are still here, and Ennis will be given another shot...that's three slugs we still have, no D acquired and the Expansion Draft and Entry draft are now behind us. Murray could have friggin done that for god sake.
Very disappointing so far....here's to finishing 28th.
We are becoming Edmonton East, without the generational talent

- IonSabres

You clearly don't pay attention to players and what they bring.

We stole Beaulieu from the Habs for a 3rd. He's a top 4 defenseman that is still improving. A former first rounder. He's 24 BTW.

Without the generational talent? I guess Eichel is a nobody...

just wondering. might be worth looking into some guys who got passed over as freebies if they've got the room.
- Sabresfan-365

I'd invite a couple to the prospect tourney. But I dunno if any are really worthy of signing.

I'd focus on Butcher of the Avs once he declares for free agency. He won the Hobey Baker this past season. Doubt he'd want to sign on with that mess of a team.

A "top4 defenseman" who was so bad he ended the year as a healthy scratch in the playoffs...
and then was basically dumped for a 3rd round pick
AND
to a division opponent

Maybe the kid can get back on track & be a steady top4 guy
But it seems like you're making a lot of assumptions about a guy who spent a whole season playing so poorly that he has multiple red flags

I don't mean to say he sucks
But we just don't know if he's gonna keep playing poorly,
or straighten his game back out

Gonna have to see how it all works out

Times like this really separate the "Xbox EA Sports NHL generation" ("but I can trade Moulson, Ennis and Fasching for Doughty! Why can't the new GM?!" or my personal favorite from the last couple days, "we need defense! Now! Why is he drafting forwards?!") from the realistic fan.

We all want to win. But, ffs, don't blame the guy that's been on the job for 6 (frank)ing weeks. If anything, blame Terry.

- Powerslave

You have me pegged completely wrong.
I have been watching the Sabres since 1971, the last half of their first season.
Lol, I couldn't be further from that generation if you tried.
The expectations were
- initially set 4 years ago about turning this team around...this is year 5, patience my ass
- reinforced by GMTM for raster turnaround
-reinforced by the so called experts that their would be so many young D available prior to Expansion Draft
- reinforced by expectations trades available with LV
- reinforced by expectations at the Draft, the busiest time for trades

Now we are counting on FA period and trades around that as well.

Strike one, strike two, strike three
Glad we aren't playing baseball.

Frustrated as hell, yup, sure am. I don't see a championship team being built here...some nice pieces in Eichel, ROR, Risto, and complimentary pieces in Rhino and Okposso and Kane. Not seeing those guys with our pipeline is going to get us over the hump. Playoffs in another 2 years?, maybe...just maybe.
No blind faith here, they are burning me out just like the Bills did two years ago.

Exactly, he's got Bogo written all over him, low hockey is.

Eichel is great, LOVE watching him. Jury is still out on generational though.
Hope he develops into one...but he ain't there yet. I also see slight signs from his international play where he isn't THE player out here, his contemporaries player a bigger game on that stage than he has shown.
Yup, I said it...Eichel us great to watch, generational...he hasn't proved it so far.

Everyone irritated and crying about drafting Mittelstadt, imagine being Detroit and drafting Rasmussen. Woof.

With the league trending towards smaller and faster players with skill, the Red Wings would have benefited from selecting a player in that mold. So what do they do? They draft 6-foot-5 Michael Rasmussen.
I’m not saying Rasmussen is a bad player. This is more about the thinking behind making this pick. What made this more perplexing was that they passed on better players in Gabriel Vilardi and Owen Tippett.

It was clear the Red Wings needed a center. But picking someone who had just 15 even strength points last season just didn’t make a lot of sense. They then follow that up by taking Gustav Lindstrom from Sweden in the second round. Based on consensus rankings, this pick was a reach.

In a season where Detroit couldn’t afford to miss on an early prospect, they left better players on the board. Perhaps they have a plan. Perhaps their picks will work out. But leaving more dynamic talents out there is not a good look. It makes you go hmmm.

Seems to me your letting the Media who job it is hype up these situations and build expectations form your opinions on GMJB,and the expectations of past GM's and Fans who are always impatient. He has been on job 6 weeks.

Example-media-Period before expansion draft will be the busiest period in NHL history
reality- nothing happens
If anything we were one of the busier teams trading for Bielieu and signing Antinpin.

In my eyes so far he is doing fine, lets see what happens.

Curious. Would people rather see Murray style trades or Botterill style patience?
