Anyone see Tanner's spot in that "Who won the Saad/Panarin trade?" ... actual intelligent analysis, and very objective. He even gives edge to Hawks. Nothing like his idiotic blogs.

Plagiarized probably. Wants to appear rational occasionally to keep readers off balance and stay employed.

Whatever happened to that deal that had us exposing TVR so that LV could claim him and then we flip Krug for a D from LV.....was it not like a given at one time?

Now, crickets???

- Hawkster

Being the early draft is over and if they get Buffalo to retain salary, not sure they'll move Krugs now. Would be selling low for no reason since he was only being moved due to cap restrictions. JMO. Special teams could have two stout units on both ends if they keep Krugs and add EK plus Saad is a great special teamer too. We'll see soon enough.

Perhaps you missed the Rutta, Kempny, and Raddysh signings... Understandable, as the Blues don't have the budget for them.

Darryn. Late bloomer. Big year in the OHL. Lots of suitors. Blues never among them. Armstrong has been way over budget for years - thus the loss of Shattenkirk et al...

He's a 21 yr old playing against quite a few 17-18 yr olds. Look at his numbers when he was that age. Still a nice get, don't misunderstand. Just a bit of context as to his numbers: http://www.eliteprospects.../player.php?player=205556

601/200 and is 21. Not a kid by any stretch. Another option along with Kempny and Rutta.

Maybe a Nate Schmidt type? Schmidt came on physically in college. Raddysh in the O. Raddysh just didn't have the legs at 18-19.

Probably needs a year or 2 in the AHL but you never know. Nice add to the system though. I look at a signing like this in terms of where he would be drafted if he were 18 with those numbers.

--You aren't replacing what Hossa gave you on or off the ice. That's just all understand that. Can't do anything about his skin disorder and I wish 81 the best. Greatest two way forward I ever saw play, and arguably the classiest person to play for the Hawks. Never heard squat about this guy complaining, etc. First class individual.

--Don't like the Hammer deal. You just gave up your BEST defensive defensemen and replaced him with size and a hope that a new change of scenery works for him. He was horrid in Arizona. Younger, cheaper....great but will be Johnny Oduya 2.0 or David Rundblad 2.0? Now you have Keith, Seabrook and 4 guys you wish and hope develop......that's a LOT to ask for a coaching staff to deal with...Frolsing, Ratta, Kempny, Murphy are ALL projects. No doubting that.

--Don't mind the Saad deal. No question here they missed his presence and the fact you have to trade to get a 1 lw and steal from your best offensive asset to help 19 get going....is disappointing. Your projected top 6 of 14-19-20 and 8-15-88 is nothing to be overly excited for.

I view these moves as long term cost cutting moves due to term and clauses given out that basically pigeon holed the organization.

It's still early in the offseason but A LOT less left to be done....Saad vs Panarin is more of a lateral move....Panarin better skilled player, Saad more complete of a 200 ft player.....No question 4 is 100 times the player Murphy is. So as of no you are a weaker team then April, again.......very early in the offseason with I'm sure moves to be made via trades as I dont' see the cap space to sign anyone worth a hoot if the plan is to place Hossa on LTIR after season begins.

Younger, bigger....no question.......better? NO.

Hawks take their usual obscure 3rd round Russian.

Wiz doesn't even have him as a draft pick..................

- vabeachbear

That 3rd Round Round Russian has some mad skill. See if you can find his youtube stuff. One thing Hawks do is mine leagues and developmental programs other teams don't. As that is the case the Hawks look for elite skill, as you can't teach skill. Often but not always this is tied to strong International play. The Hawks trust their own scouting over any outside opinion.

From the perspective of teams playing you, it doesn't even seem close. If you ignore contracts, ignore how good they'll be and if they'll be playing for the Hawks in 3 years, and are just talking about the people who will be on the ice next season, wouldn't most Hawks fans agree:

Hossa, Panarin, Kruger > Saad, Dauphin
Hjalmarsson, TVR > Murphy
Darlng > Forberg

I understand Hawks fans being happy with the moves, some of your loses were out of your control and happening regardless. But right now, Hawks look significantly weaker than last years team, and just made a bunch of rebuild on the fly type moves that set them up for down the road.

- Antilles

Antilles I'm very comfortable with where the Hawks are right now. I'm assuming that there are more moves to come. Saad is an absolute monster and I am ecstatic that he is back. Actually knew it was only a matter of time before Panarin was kicked out the door. Hammer moved - older, was going to be too expensive, was prepared to leave one time before. Murphy a young stud, first rounder, controlled, Captain of Team USA 2017. Got Dauphin too, 2nd rounder. Very happy. Hawks are going to be just fine next year.

Murphy isn't horrid...was on a horrid team

10x More physical
Blocks 1.7 shots per game (to Hjarlmarsson's career I think 1.85)
Very mobile
1/2 the giveaways as Hjarlmarsson

Nick got to play with Keith, Seabrook,Hossa, etc While Murphy played with hot garbage. He's 24...and can be a solid top 4 gut for the next 5+ yrs

The "better" will be TBD to be honest, but the moves yesterday were about getting younger, getting another possibly lower line C, a backup goalie, and cost control down the road, while filling some of the void with Hossa.

You really don't know on paper how well the D will play. This last season, many thought the Hawks D were pretty solid on paper, and it was the worst showing by the Hawks blueline in the playoffs for the last decade. So much for adding Campbell, Oduya, etc.. to an aging D core. The Hawks are an unknown in a lot of ways. Should be fun to find out how good they are.

I'd be interested in seeing if the Hawks could pull in Merrill from Vegas somehow. He's not offensively gifted, like Miller or Schmidt, but he's a workhorse who is a good shot suppressor at a hit of $1.14m. He'd likely take less to grab thanks to low offense, too.

Karlsson is the only other Vegas player that interesting for the Hawks. Don't get me wrong, others are good, but he's a good fit as center who can play LW, cheap, and has good size. Needs to work on his draws, though.

- L_B_R

Given the cap situation and the need in the bottom 6 Karlsson would be a fantastic pick-up.

By trading Hino and Louis you lose speed. Nobody on the Hawks roster is faster. Heck, not many people in the entire NHL are faster than Louis, he can fly.

Don t think Louis or hino are going to be on the hawks roster anytime soon i ll sacrifice some speed for size grit and physical play lindberg can skate pretty well so can Thompson ans wiggles e.kane hayden and deslauria balances out the line up with big forwards who can play that physical style

I do wish people would forget Deslaurier exists. I could see the interest 2 years ago but he has done nothing since and has trouble holding a spot on that roster. Thompson would be a decent Desi like player if they could get him at a low, low price due to the injury risk. Nice player to have for the playoffs. He was pretty solid against the Preds.
