I have seen Dauphin play a bit now - I've been looking over the tracked Coyotes games last season with him in it. Could always stand to see more, though. ftr I'm not saying he is Rasmussen, I'm saying on the Yotes he came off more like a Rasmussen-type. Again, being on a bad team and different type of system likely played into that. He's got the tools and supposedly the attitude. I mean, look at Desjardins in 2015 - he was used as a Carcillo type on the Sharks, but he bloomed in the Hawks system.

What are tracked games and where can I find them?............ Nice 5:00 of Dauphin playing with Canada in the WJC U-18 tournament. McDavid is on the club: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ut00M28FZ4Q

One has to think that the stockpiling of young RHD means:

1) Hawks may be deal Seabrook at some point this offseason (unlikely)
or
2) Hawks already have some sweetheart deals lined up for Campbell and Oduya.

I'm super wary of this idea ngl. Dauphin hasn't shown he can drive possession at all, which is the most important facet of Kruger's role. Yes, Dauphin was on a bad team, but looking at just his individual micro stats is a bit worrisome. He seems more in line with a Rasmussen, a complimentary checking player, than a Kruger. However, he is only 22 and is reported to be hard working, so hopefully he'll make a believer out of me.
- L_B_R

Agreed. Overpriced or not, Kruger possessed overall defensive acumen that Dauphin doesn't appear to have at this point in his career. Hopefully that will blossom sooner rather than later and catch up with his skating

These guys (particularly Kempny) have the physical tools. Time to coach them up. Murphy needs it too. If it is going to be Campbell or Oduya let it be Oduya. Campbell is done defensively.... and let Ulf call the starters. Enough with this Rosi over Kempny garbage in the regular season. They also better make sure that Ruuta and Kempny are learning english. Never addressed the language issue aggressively enough with Panarin. Should be a priority that these guys can understand the coaches and teammates.
- tredbrta

Agree with all of this, especially about Kempny and coaching these guys up. Anxious to see how things change with defensive deployment and style under Ulf.

Of these choices, I gotta go with 2).

With Hammer dealt, that leaves only Duncs and Seabs as established D. Sure some of the other guys can grow into their positions, but would the FO be willing to deal Seabs?

They would have to get an established, lower cost guy in return And even with that, the defence corps would be one big experiment. I don't see another team getting the 'Hawks off this hook rather easily.

Now if JO is brought back and perhaps Soupy, say as a #7, then the younger guys can be brought along with less pressure initially.

Thanks, Rob.......... Love reading things like head up, keeps shot low, gets shot through, mobile about a prospect. Screams IQ and if you're smart with mobility you can make things happen. AJHL is a very solid league and if he's the #2 Dman behind maker out of that league he's solid...... Add he was rostered and played well in the Ivan Hlinka tournament, same for the WJC U-18 tournament and the kid has been highly thought of for awhile. That he's a right shot is always good.

Denver has a pretty solid program. May pick up a little extra nastiness there too. After watching Denver play numerous times against the AF Academy team ... we usually are tempted to throw objects at their players.

Should be a good place for him. As a local side note, Mike Haviland is working at rebuilding the once great Colorado College Tigers program here. Denver typically gets the more talented recruits

Oh yea Denver U is solid, champs this last year. Coach Montgomery was at Dubuque (USHL) before moving to Denver a couple years back, won a cup or two there. Saavy recruiter and evaluator. ...... You see a lot of NCAA hockey? Great brand, lotta speed and physical.

Top NCAA feeder league, USHL, churns out more and more NHL picks. Second only to the OHL this year.

Total player count via @eliteprospects #NHLDraft 43 - OHL, 40 - USHL, 33 - WHL, 24 - USHS, 14 - QMJHL 12, - OJHL

Stan's next moves:

1. Re-sign Rasmussen - 2 years
2. Re-sign Jurco - 1 year
3. Trade Kruger

Pretty much it for now. Don't see much big happening until Kruger is dealt. Sure hope that plays out the way we're thinking it's going to.

Tracked games are the ones for the micro stat project that Ryan Stimson (owner of hockey-graphs). You can download the info from all the tracked games that people do, which will get you the numbers, and then you just match up with the games that were tracked on the NHL app or streams.

I do agree with your other assessment that Dauphin has speed that is interesting. His controlled entries/exits are sloppy, but if his speed can be focused, he could do really well in that arena. When I compared to Ras earlier, it was purely on their success of transition and possession driving aspect, not on like their speed or anything like that. Like I said, Dauphin appear to definitely have the tools, so I'm interested in seeing him in Q's system - I just am cautious that he'd seamlessly filly in Kruger's role.

Rasmussen can be resigned for league minimum of $650k, but Jurco apparently has to be qualified at close to a $1m. I didn't realize that for some reason.

Qualifying offers due by 5 PM tomorrow. It'd be nice if something else happened before then that qualifies as at least interesting if not exciting.

Sorry, yard duty.

Olomouc has a strong program - preaches D first. Kid is not finished growing. I know someone who came up through that program who continues to follow his club and he says he hears good things about his upside.

Hawks have had interest in him as much as you say he sucks, purely as an energy type guy

Someone should tell to stop. lol. Seriously, though. Mashinter is a better hockey player than Deslaurier.

Both Panik and McNeill signed for less than that their QO last summer. I don't expect the same from Jurco.

I do not understand how Stan makes an AHole move by extended Panarin in April/May at a good price and trading him 2 months later!!!
I don't know why we traded Saad in the first place?! Aren't they now going to pay him $$$ that he wanted when they traded him

EDIT: Anyone?

- RedHandedJill

MEh. Its not really an bumhole move. Hawks just paid him 6M the last 2 years and ensure he gets 12M the next two. We all could have someone pull a move like that on us. lol

Simply, They didn't have the cap space to sign Saad at that time. I mean, yeah they could have but it would have meant moving players, blah blah.

Annnnnddd looks like others have cleared this up.

Please, no. I am a huge fan of Oduya but I can't bear to watch him like this anymore. I am not sure if injuries were a factor or wait. He looks like he is done. The thing that made him excel, his ability to transition the puck, was missing. I don't think any teams needs more than on 3 wheel shopping cart.

Campbell? awww hell no.

DBH, I had mentioned this in a previous post, but I was wondering if the players and coaches/FO saw his reaction when he scored the goal that got him the bonus, and then saw the performance after that, and thought he was expendable due to that? Also, winning regular season games is good, but winning playoff games is great.
- powerenforcer

It was never about money to him. His struggles and then all of a sudden hitting his bonuses was just coincidence. There was a lot of stuff going on during the season with him personally and I think it affected his play at times. I'm not at liberty to say what those things were but it was stuff that's hard to ignore.

Thanks for the info. I am torn on the trade, but I do think that Saad is a better fit for the team (as it sits today). Too bad both guys couldn't be on the team.
One thing I would be interested in, if you keep in contact with him, is what his feelings are on the trade.

Caps need a shake up too. They haven't done anything yet.

Have a buddy that called Panarin trade , he says AA is getting a ton of attention . Hawks wanna keep him but deals might end up being too good to pass up. If AA gets moved it'll be before 7.1
