Dauphin and Saad can fly, Murphy is faster than Hammer

- John Jaeckel

JJ what do you see happening with the Hawks? Do you think they are looking to send AA as part of a package to land a L2 or are they looking to add another D man?

Do you think Kruger is still on the move?

--You aren't replacing what Hossa gave you on or off the ice. That's just all understand that. Can't do anything about his skin disorder and I wish 81 the best. Greatest two way forward I ever saw play, and arguably the classiest person to play for the Hawks. Never heard squat about this guy complaining, etc. First class individual.

--Don't like the Hammer deal. You just gave up your BEST defensive defensemen and replaced him with size and a hope that a new change of scenery works for him. He was horrid in Arizona. Younger, cheaper....great but will be Johnny Oduya 2.0 or David Rundblad 2.0? Now you have Keith, Seabrook and 4 guys you wish and hope develop......that's a LOT to ask for a coaching staff to deal with...Frolsing, Ratta, Kempny, Murphy are ALL projects. No doubting that.

--Don't mind the Saad deal. No question here they missed his presence and the fact you have to trade to get a 1 lw and steal from your best offensive asset to help 19 get going....is disappointing. Your projected top 6 of 14-19-20 and 8-15-88 is nothing to be overly excited for.

I view these moves as long term cost cutting moves due to term and clauses given out that basically pigeon holed the organization.

It's still early in the offseason but A LOT less left to be done....Saad vs Panarin is more of a lateral move....Panarin better skilled player, Saad more complete of a 200 ft player.....No question 4 is 100 times the player Murphy is. So as of no you are a weaker team then April, again.......very early in the offseason with I'm sure moves to be made via trades as I dont' see the cap space to sign anyone worth a hoot if the plan is to place Hossa on LTIR after season begins.

Younger, bigger....no question.......better? NO.

Steve sorry but the Hammer and Panarin trades are both great. Panarin is totally uni-dimensional and weak. Saad is multi-dimensional and a monster. Panarin also had attitudinal and laziness problems that I just knew management and the players were not missing. Kane and Toews both wanted Saad back and knew it would take Panarin. I think the plan all along was to trade Panarin as finally there was no NTC or NMC for him.

Murphy is in insane condition, has skill, size and toughness and is a former 1st rounder. He is only 24. He is also team controlled for years. Finally, you don't get named the Captain of Team USA 2017, at 24, unless you are bringing something to the table. Hammer was going to walk as a UFA, as he had tried to do once before, as an RFA, when the Hawks matched. Nice trade if was even up, that the Hawks got Dauphin too makes it even better.

More to come too. Hawks are going to be very competitive in 2017-18.

Given the cap situation and the need in the bottom 6 Karlsson would be a fantastic pick-up.

Deslaurier sucks ass. Thompson is meh considering he is an injury waiting to happen.
I think they can do better

- TTtime

Hawks have had interest in him as much as you say he sucks, purely as an energy type guy

Preds had the obvious speed advantage. Cant fault Stan. He is trying to reload with size and speed and he got 19 his LW.

Couple things over the past few days:

1. Great to have Saad back. Hopefully this turns Toews back to his usual self. Now, call me crazy, but I believe Panik can be a 30-30 guy playing consistently with Saad and Toews. That first line is going to be absolutely nasty to play against.

2. Anisimov and Kruger are going to be the next ones to be traded. AA to Buffalo for a retained contract of Evander Kane. If Kane can be had for 4mil, i'll take it. PKane needs some sandpaper on his line to help reduce the amount of hits and cheapshots he'll take. Kruger could be an excellent fit in Carolina as they love Centers with a good faceoff percentage and pk skills..(see McClement, who is a UFA, and Staal)..Kruger with a 2018 3rd for a 2018 2nd.

3. Dauphin and Forsberg. Great assets for the future, but they shouldn't be regulars next year, at least to start the year. Dauphin should be in Rockford working on his faceoff percentage and his PK role as he apparently will be the future heir apparent to Marcus Kruger. Forsberg also needs to start off as the #1 in Rockford. Super raw, I don't think he's ready to take on the strong Central Division just yet. However, he could be resigned for 800k for 2 years and then go from there. Jhonas Enroth can be signed to a minimum dollar 2-way 'prove it' deal as the #2 behind Crawford.

4. DeBrincat and Fortin shouldn't be regulars to start in Chicago next year, let alone bottom-6 regulars. Give them both a full year in the AHL to get them accustomed to nhl-style hockey. They will be solid contributors on the left side of the forward group, just not next year.

5. We need size, grittiness, and a high faceoff percentage from our Centers...we do that by signing the likes of Martin Hanzal and Jay McClement. Hanzal steps in AA's spot as the #2 and McClement steps in the Kruger role and fills the #4 Center slot. Kero stays on as the 3rd line center. I believe Nick Schmaltz is not ready to take over the #2 center role just yet. Another year on the 3rd line with Kero is the way to go, but give Schmaltz the first chance to take over in a center role if an injury were to occur.

Saad-Toews-Panik
Kane-Hanzal-Kane
Schmaltz-Kero-Hartman
Hinostroza-McClement-Hayden/Tootoo

Keith-Murphy
Forsling-Seabs
Kempny-Rutta

Panarin is not weak! He's very strong for his build, also he didn't have attitude problems in fact he was one of the most liked players in the Hawks lockeroom. He would show up at practice early and sometimes stay late to workout.

I still like the trade. 88 can carry a line. Saad and Toews worked well together. It was apparent 72 was not a fit with Toews. I agree 100% that Panarin is damn talented, but Saad is still a 25 goal guy who brings speed and size as well. It was a value for value trade.

I agree and he plays a 200 foot game. He will really help the cycle on Toews line with Panik on the right side. Hopefully this will cut down on the abuse that Toews has been getting over the last couple of years.

He has a lot of talent and was really fun to cheer for. I like the trade but I'll miss Panarin. The only two yellow flags I saw with him was that it seemed like he let up some right after he signed his extension. (Not unusual.) And didn't he say that he was tired in the playoffs? Maybe that is him still getting adjusted to the NA schedule. I expect him to continue to play at a high level and figure out how to better prepare for the playoffs. Good luck to him in the world of Torts.

I do not understand how Stan makes an AHole move by extended Panarin in April/May at a good price and trading him 2 months later!!!
I don't know why we traded Saad in the first place?! Aren't they now going to pay him $$$ that he wanted when they traded him

EDIT: Anyone?

Hawks got faster, younger, and maybe a little bigger. They got less skilled and less experienced in exchange. But what's more important? Given how this skilled and experienced team got spankes in round 1, you be the judge.

Why does that matter? The Jackets took him at his salary and the Hawks have Saad. I take Saad over Panarin all day long.

Point being pay him the $$$ he wanted he would have been here and we would have had Panarin = 2 LW's... maybe another Cup!!!

We did not have the money to keep Saad at the time. After Saad left, we landed Panarin on a decent entry level contract. 72 then gets re-signed for his current contract. Now its just a swap. Im thrilled to have Saad back.

DBH, I had mentioned this in a previous post, but I was wondering if the players and coaches/FO saw his reaction when he scored the goal that got him the bonus, and then saw the performance after that, and thought he was expendable due to that? Also, winning regular season games is good, but winning playoff games is great.

Maybe I missed this answer, but in case no one brought this up....Concerning Q leaving the building right before the trades and a no-show in the 1st round. And the subsequent arrival with smiles to today's festivities...anyone know the scuttlebutt on what happened? Or did nothing really happen? Hmmm.

Its obvious you have not followed the Hawks and their cap history since 2010.
I suggest you do a little bit of research before opening your mouth and removing all doubt as to how clueless you are.
