Tk's goal production will double this year.
Weal will get signed his goal total will increase.
NP and OL to can add some goals to pick up remaining Schenner slack.
Agree with Big E there will be a package for a goalie with someone today.
We have picks and players to spare without messing with chemistry.

Regarding the Frost pick. Over the past few years I have learned to trust the Flyers scouting under Hextall.

They seem to stick to their own criteria and it seems to be working for them.

- MBFlyerfan

Agree 100%

They seem to being doing a great job under Hextall:
2014
If the draft was re-held today, I'm pretty sure Sanheim goes higher than #17
Lindblom will turn out to be a flat out steal as a 5th rounder and again, if the draft was re-held today, he's a late 1st, early 2nd.

2015
Provy was no-brainer, but moving up to #24 to snag Konecny was a very good move
Getting one of the top goal prospects in the world (Sandstrom) in the 3rd round is awesome
Vorobyev is a very nice pick for a 4th rounder and Cooper Marody may be an even better for a guy taken in the 6th

2016
Rubtsov at #22 is looking like a great pick, the scouts love this kid.
Getting Hart in the 2nd round was another really good pick
Getting Bunnamon, who in a re-draft would be a solid 2nd rounder, in the 4th round is fantastic.

I'm more than willing to give Hextall and his staff the benefit of the doubt when it comes to drafting.

I wouldn't be surprised if schenn posts career points next year just because the top to bottom talent is so much better and the pressure to perform isn't as high.

Quite possible. But it really doesn't matter what he'll do with StL, it only mattered when he did/would've done for this team as constructed.

Never the BSchenn fan, his desire to play center would never have been fulfilled here, or I doubt anywhere else for that matter. Though a decent skater, he doesn't pass or create well enough. And at this stage, he hasn't shown more of a consistency to his game which I was expecting after being in the league as long as he has. There were too many nights where he flat out disappeared.

That said, I wasn't overjoyed with the return either. I know it could be a great haul when we look back several years from now after the picks develop. I was looking to see Hextall package BShenn for something a little more immediate - a NHL ready player, be it a forward or goalie, or even a part of a package to get a high pick. Yea, the first round returns are nice, but they are bottom half draftees and still a crapshoot.

Or if it was a case where a top end player dropped unexpectedly and was within reach, like Jake Chychrun last year, I'd be ecstatic. The Frost pick was a bit underwhelming.

Lehterä was strictly a salary dump necessary to make the deal. I don't see him as a Hakstoll type player nor do I see him making this team any better.

Bit I'll just wait it out and see what Hextall has planned. There will be other moves made, maybe today, maybe later. Unless he's in full Hinke mode which I seriously doubt, things should hopefully become a little clearer soon.

You never know though. A couple injuries here and there and they just miss the playoffs then BAM...Lottery Pick.
- Glak18

I could definitely see the Blues having a somewhat down year, given that it seems they've taken a small step back losing Shattenkirk and Oshie in successive years....it's not out of the question at least.

From what I'm reading he needs to add some muscle mass to that hulking frame and improve his north-south skating. Seems to have above average hockey sense though and was by all means THE GUY on a horrible team this year.

Here you go:

“Tall and gangly with lots of room to add muscle but his on-ice game is progressing at a very good clip this season. Skates better than you would expect a growing 6-6 kid too and has some real offensive potential. Dangerous anywhere around the crease.” –Dan Stewart (Future Considerations Scouting Director)

“The power forward who can skate and possesses very soft hands has been coming on lately. I think he’s underrated offensively in some circles. He’s a physical beast who can play a very mean game. Almost impossible to knock off the puck and uses his size and strength to maintain possession. Right now, he’s probably the best prospect in front of the goal, battling for space and loose pucks and banging in rebounds. We caught a glimpse of that in the Top Prospects game. The scary thought is he’s still going to grow and get stronger.” – Dominic Tiano, OHL Writers

“Had a very impressive Top Prospects game performance where he stood out for his size, offensive ability and his defensive play. While the NHL is allowing smaller skill players more regularly into the league, there will always be a preference to bigger players if all things are equal. Ratcliffe may not have elite hands for the NHL but he is more than adequate and skating is not a liability either. Already at 6-5 at 18-years-old he should project as an ideal power forward.” – Peter Harling

Come on, kid! You can do it!

What I am reading is how I like the game to be played, to be honest. There are other ways to win, but my preferred path is physical dominance

I'm picturing these top 3 lines in 2 or 3 years:

I'm not too familiar with him so I'll defer to you. I saw the trade and thought wow that's a heavy price to move up 9 spots in the 2nd. Since you saw him as a late 1st, I guess you're good with that price?

Come on, kid! Eat and work out! There is nothing else in your world!
