why does everyone wan to trade Tanev so badly? there is no point trading him for 20th overall in a bad draft year. Wait until we have a sellers market or revisit a trade at the deadline. There appears to be limited interest in him at the moment.

It is a average draft less the superstars, but it is not a bad draft

It only makes sense if he can get a top eight pick to get a shot at one of the other good kids in the draft, otherwise, you're right.

I was still hoping Tanev for 3 OA and Niemi/Lehtonen

I would do a trade up to the top 21 . I would also be okay if he stated.

Revisiting losing Tryamkin & Sbisa....

I fully get what JB says that hurts NHL depth on D.
Now say we ignore that for a moment....

Trading Tanev asap when value is there is needed.
A step back & garners a certain high pick next draft is a reality.
The return would be key for rebuilding.
That next draft is loaded on D talent to pick from.
2nd up is if Tree can break his KHL contract he has a legit shot as a top 4 here.
The right pairings & he would grow into the role just fine.
Opening up competition for top 4 is better sooner than later.
In the end its a huge carrot for Tryamkin

Tryamkin knew Wild Willie and Lidster both wouldn't be back and yet he still left to go back home and be with his babushka. He and his wife don't want to live in North America, period. He won't be back. Forget about him. Move on.

Top 10 pick would be my first choice in any deal involving Tanev. Not sure we get that though. I just saw some articles online saying there is a decent chance Makar goes 1st, Heiskanen and Makar have a good chance of being off the board before Canucks pick at 5, and that Kim Klostin could be gone in the top 10. It's going to be a crazy draft.

Would you Trade Tanev for Klim Kostin at 21?

I would and on July first sign Franson or Del Zotto

They should. Thier team sucks. They have done nothing for so long they have to try something different. At least it gives their fan base something to think and talk about.

Of course not. Who would be so stupid to consider firing your scouting staff the day of the draft? That would be (frank)ing ridiculous.
