Lol....so funny while he was here it was 100% Eakins....now Yak just sucks. - Larsson_fan
Well obviously it was somewhat the coaching I mean (frank), Eakins (frank)ed the entire team with his methods but come on, Yak has proven he just can't play in the NHL under multiple coaches. |

We could have gotten an unconditional 2nd had he traded him a year earlier - Larsson_fan
I doubt that. Maybe, but that's conjecture and hardly worthy of critiquing him for. He wanted to see what he had and what McLellan could do with him. Had the previous management group traded him two years prior, maybe they get a 1st; do we bother criticizing MacT for that? |

There's no way he isn't pretending to be that character and spelling poop the way he does. Like HB77 said, he does good work and is dedicated to his craft. - leonkennedy

I'm ok with it, was leaning Patrick but let's face it, this year was the first year in a while where there was a 1A 1B situation everyone knew Ekblad, McJeezy and Matthews were the #1s. Just wish Philly didn't get Patrick to go with Provorov - smellmyfinger
I'm too tired to read back. Just got home and checked out what we did on Day 1 of the draft. Signed Russell for 4 years and drafted a kid that's 5'7, 148 pounds??? (frank) me!!! Who has a puppy to kick? The cuter and cuddlier the better! |

Yeah Im on board with this
By the time we had him pegged as a problem, it was just worth More to us to ride it out and hope he figures it out.
We gambled and lost. but I don't blame pc for doing so
On another note- I'll assume Mact has a stigma attached to him and prob won't get another head gm job somewhere. But I hope he does

He was in a lose lose situation made worse by hiring a bad coach.
Edit: in a few years PC will be fired mid season, Good things will happen (playoff success) with Lowe and MacT as interm replacements and they will be awarded the positions again.this was the plan all along. |

Happy Ebs is gone. I wanted Hamonic, but I'm content with Strome. I'll be happier if we get a vet that can score and play 2way hockey. Not happy about 4 years of Russell
at 4 million with our cap space. |

So, as far as UFA is concerned, I can see the Oilers looking at another 3-4C, a top-9 RW and a bottom-4 Dman. They've got cap space to commit for a year and might pony up for the right 3C and move Nuge next year. My ideal list features Hanzal (longer term), Boyle (short term) as the C, Sharp (short term) at RW and either Campbell, Del Zotto or- gods be willing- Markov on a short term deal. Resigning Gryba or Oesterle would leave us with:
Maroon- McDavid- Draisaitl
Lucic- Nugent-Hopkins- Strome
Caggiula- Hanzal- Sharp
Slepyshev- Letestu- Kassian
Khaira,
Puljujarvi, Gambardella and maybe Foo in the AHL
Yammers and Benson in the CHL
Klefbom- Larsson
Markov- Russell
Nurse- Benning
Gryba or Oesterle
Sekera injured
Simpson, Jones, Bear and Paigin in the AHL
Talbot
Brossoit
Ellis and Starrett in the AHL
Wells in the CHL
If that UFA D is Markov on a 1-year deal pursuing a Cup, that is one hell of an attractive line-up to my eye. If it's one of the other two, it's still got some great depth.
That's likely my realistically ideal summer. |
