Just feels like something else is going to happen today.
You now need two centers, still need a RHD and now a goalie.
Still say Miller should be next to go for trouba. Then you sign smith or Shatty and Hanzal or someone probably cheaper. Def need a center via FA
Can anyone drafted tonight step in right away at 3C? Hayes zib ahead obviously - Slimtj100
If the Rangers want to truly compete this year, I wouldn't depend on anyone drafted tonight stepping into the big club as a Top 3 center.
If they are going to re-tool a little this year, maybe.

ALso with the cap space a plenty now, you think Staal gets the buy out now? |
|
|

Who is going to be your new whipping boy now, for a player that you made out as if he were only a detriment to the team? Remember, you gave up at the end of last season with Jesper Fast also being one .... finally ......, when you had two whipping boys earlier. - RangerSaver
Ur a clown. Clearly everyone saw, including the Rangers, what I saw last year. Fast is expendable and I don't change that opinion but admit he had a good playoffs. McD could go for a nice return and u wouldn't be to upset. |

I don't crave for kudos. But when u bring something up a few ppl on here think everything is ridiculous until they're the ones to bring it up, then it's ok to talk about. Obviously what I was saying wasn't that ridiculous, up until about 6 months ago trading Stepan was the most ridiculous suggestion anyone has ever come up with. |

Penguins and Blackhawks in talks about a Kruger/Hagelin deal. More pieces/players would be involved. |

They've got to pay Miller, Skjei, Vesey, and Hayes next year.
Just an observation. Might lend credence to signing one vet on a one year deal. |

I wanted a bit more than the got. Understand moving Stepan now as well as knowing the full view can't be decided until we see what they pick at #7 or use the pick and cap space for in the next two weeks. I give my view, may not be agreed to by all, but that's fine. - airjan23
For a team that is in a win now mode while Hank is here, combined with needing cap space to likely now to trade for &/or sign a free agent both at center (possibly 2 of them) and a RH offensive d'man, along with the experts' opinions of this draft class being weaker than recent years' ones, having the 7th & 21st picks will not aid that immediate goal.
The deal was made in chief due to Stepan's NTC starting July 1st, especially after having just lost Lindberg to Vegas. I would bet that the Coyotes were willing to part only with what they did, due to the Rangers not wanting to retain any of Stepan's $6.5M cap hit. That approximate $5.6M saved in salary cap difference, would likely be used along with at least one their two 1st Rounders, to help land a high priced need at center and the right side back line, in addition in key to re-signing Smith and Zibanejad, prior to any more holes being filled. |

I Think you have to take all of it into equation, maybe they didn't get the most they could've but they got salary relief from a potential bad contact and declining player. Which is a win in itself. I didn't love Murphy talk so I don't think they could've gotten more then they did. No one other then Jimmy is probably a bigger step fan then me. But we are smart hockey guys and see what's best for them. They do have a gaping hole at center now tho, peeps gotta realize that |
