I like the player, it's a very safe pick. But most scouts said that he doesn't ever figure to be a major impact player. 3rd line center with a 2nd line ceiling.

Ranked 13 on Bobby Mac's list. Not happy but again I'm no pro.

I'm never going to argue with a Swede. Think the kid is going to be a good player.

For you guys:

I paid for a month of one of the scouting service websites and this was what they had on Andersson:

Player Summary

He has proven he can play wing or center already at the pro level as a solid offensive contributor at the tender age of 18. Skating is the only question for the hard worker with smarts, vision and accurate shot who is a good bet to fulfill any top-nine role thrust upon him. Andersson was a key contributor to HV 71’s SHL championship run this spring, scoring key goals and playing a strong 200-foot game.

NHL Scouts’ Comments

Dec. 2016 – Apparently, he’s been great in SHL. He was good at U20 in Nov.

Jan. 2017 – He was solid at the World Juniors, one of Sweden’s best forwards. He really showed off his shot with some nice goals from the high slot.

April 14, 2017 – You have to love the way he plays…he plays hard, and is very strong, he wins most puck battles. A very good two-way player, very versatile. His skating needs work and is likely what makes him a third-line NHLer, he’s not overly quick. I don’t know that he has top-six upside..but he should be a solid NHL forward who can play multiple positions.

May 7, 2017 – The last time I saw him he was very, very good. He’s a top 20 guy for sure…maybe top 15.

And $6.5miliion cap savings on the 3rd line center that struggles to skate.

Why give up a kings ransom in assets when we can just sign Shatty?
- rangerdanger94

I have been proposing for that all along, using the words, "free of giving up any assets". But a few here are against the move, due to the $7 years at $6M per year rumored that he will demand, in feeling that the contract would be Girardi or Staal like, hurting us in 3 years. To that I have also stated that if he so badly wanted to play for his one time rooting interest where he was raised, then the Rangers could at least try & start at 4 or 5 years for slightly less money, provided that there would be no bidding war for him. But I began stating that prior to both Girardi's buyout and the Stepan trade. So now there is even more available cap space to first re-sign Smith, followed then with Shatty, if Trouba is indeed out of the picture.
The #1 critic of Shatty doesn't like him because of his weak defensive game. I don't see any Bobby Orr equivalents available to satisfy that same #1 Stepan hater, who is celebrating his departure in LA LA LAND tonight, likely while preparing for who to be his next whipping boy will be here, if it's not the +17 career regular season rated Shatty. I suppose he would rather instead trade for Justin Faulk's -83 rating, and give up either Zucc or Miller as per their demand for a top forward, in doing so. It won't be Dumba, if rumors again tonight have the Wild trading either Brodin (to BOS. or MTL., possibly for Galcheynuk), & if not, try to move Scandella by the weekend's end.
