Tanner only looks at fancy stats, he has no real understanding of what he is talking about. I believe Murphy will be very good, The Blackhawks have a much different culture than Arizona and he has Keith and Seabrook to mentor him. He will likely be a great value player for the next six years, with top pairing potential. |

E Kane, it depends on the cost for a 1 yr player. People will keep trying with a 225lb player who skates like the wind with hands to score 30 plus. - Mr Ricochet
E Kane might be a really solid player for the Hawks. I think a large part of his "issues" (whatever they may be) has been empowered by the fact that he was on young teams. I think the Hawks leadership in the room could alleviate any issues that exist. |

You read that hot garbage? THE worst HB blogger. By far. Totally off the cuff. Zero understanding of finances. Zero. Every player viewed in his made up vacuum. Terrible. - blackhawk24
I do punish myself yes. I need to stop. Im sure he was sucking Murphy's D somewhere down the line. And bashing Hammer at some point too. |

Hey JJ, I get the Saad-Panarin trade. There's cost certainty there, but I don't get trading Hjalmersson. Murphy is still a project and Nick was such a solid D-man at such a great cap hit. Baffled about that one. - duxcup07
I just know the Hawks loved Dauphin as a Kruger-type defensive center in the draft a few years ago, but AZ got him ahead of them in rd. 2, and Murphy is a nice developable, future top 4 guy who can play 3rd pair this year
BUT, I think there is now a question on D that will need to be addressed/backfilled somehow. |

Of course Arizona guy tanner thinks they "fleeced" us on the hammer trade and basically said Murphy is just terrible. And douphin is there worst prospect. so a complete and udder steal according to him. Love the Saad deal. Panarin did NOTHING in 2 playoff appearances, good to get some balls back and hopefully some instant chemistry. net front presence as well. put him on the pk and pp. like it. hammer is one of a kind can't replace that but i also don't think murphy is a bag of pucks there tanner. he was captain of the U.S world championship team. if that means anything. - Thoroldbhawks
Don't fret over Tanner, he is the king of Hawk Hate. I believe he takes shots to get hits on his blogs as more BH posters crossover to slam that crap down then AZ guys stepping up to support his diatribe... |

He's an idiot off the ice, but typically pretty good on. It would be a one-year "rental" and a tryout to see if he can fly right |

Seabs is not fast enough to cover for a young kids mistakes, and Forsling is gonna make them. Maybe they deal for another D-man. - JRoenick97
Book it. And my guess is it could be today. |

I wonder if they try to deal with FLA for Demers, or NYI for Hamonic? Those are some big $$ guys though. |

Exactly. He's a 30 goal player... I think in the right room he could straighten things out and become a HUGE asset. If not, Hawks ditch him next summer. |

I also think Panarins raise in 2 years is going to be more than what Saad will command because Panarin is an elite goal scorer. - JRoenick97

Yes there is more to hockey than points, and Saad doesn't bring those other elements. I had him in fantasy hockey last year he was a streaky bum.
He would go 5 games and score 8 points, then he would go 10 games and score 1 assist.
Saad had 24 hits and 22 blocked shots the entire season. Barely more than Phil Kessel.
Ok, he doesn't throw hits and he doesn't block shots.. Maybe he's good at stealing the puck?
He ranked 88th in the NHL in "takeaways" with 43 on the season. Decent, but not great.
Not saying that Saad is a bad hockey player, but I think Panarin is at least 1 or 2 levels above him.

Saad-Toews-Panik
Schmaltz-AA-Kane
Hartman-Kruger-Kero
Hayden-Dauphin-Hinostroza
Keith-Murphy
Forsling-Seabrook
Kempney-Rutta
Rozsival
Crawford
Forsberg
Keith and Seabrook will never be paired together...they are the only vet on the back end who aren't dead!
Bottom 6 is still a bit of a train wreck....
And the Anisimov for Panarin is $4.5M in salary vs. $7.5M for Breadman in two years. So that's not really equivalent... Plus Jeremy Morin morphed into Richard Panik in the original Anisimov-Saad trade.
The next trade will be coach Q!! But at least he can't do a Keith-Hammer pairing any more!!!!! - DMChi2010
What about AA-Schmaltz-Kane instead?
AA will never get better at faceoffs...Schmaltz may improve as he gains strength and experience. Before this year, Schmaltz never played LW (IIRC), but AA has. Of course, if the Hawks trade AA, then this is a totally moot point!

Ywo years ago, I think. I spent some time with Saad one night last season, he said he loved Cbus, Chicago was great. But . . .
I will just say, he and Tortorella were not always eye to eye, and as I speculated here the other day, I think CBJ wanted that sniper/gal scoring on the left flank. Saad is a great 2-way player but not the pure dynamic, offensive threat Panarin is. So each time got what it wanted. Forsberg could be a steal in this. Motte, meh. No tears here. Message Board Legend I suspect. - John Jaeckel
Or some who saw him from 16 yrs old play a game that saw him come out of every scrum (not watching it), play low with speed, north-south and saw him take a Torres on Hossa like hit to the head and was out the next shift........ Not all posters use stats, a posse to back them up as evaluating techniques. |
