JJ-

If they acquire another D-Man, do you think Kempny would be added into a trade? Reason is if he plays and has a good year, they would have trouble resigning him longer-term next year.

I can see that happening with Torts. He is the type of coach to get one or two good seasons out of teams before they get tired of his BS. kind of like Ozzie Guillen. Being publicly reamed and sent to the 4th line is not always the best way of handling things.

I'll take the mini Hoss signed for longer over Panarin. In 2 years they would have nothing to show for Panarin (and Hammer). I don't believe Bowman is done.

FWIW I will miss the pretty, telepathic plays from the Breadman and Kane.

- Antz96

I also think Panarins raise in 2 years is going to be more than what Saad will command because Panarin is an elite goal scorer.

I don't like the Hjalmarsson trade. He's the wrong guy to ship out. He is an ELITE defensive D who would be top 4 on any team. No no no #Bad

- JRoenick97

He could be as good a GM as Milbury was some day.

Seriously, you HATE to lose hammer. And that is the one hole right now that neds to be backfilled somehow. See how it ALL plays out. I don't think the Hawks are done.

Hey JJ, I get the Saad-Panarin trade. There's cost certainty there, but I don't get trading Hjalmersson. Murphy is still a project and Nick was such a solid D-man at such a great cap hit. Baffled about that one.

Q's head has to be just spinning right now. Has to completely revamp the D-corps, and likely have to establish at least three if not all four forward lines. Forget the blender, he's going to have to get the food processor out.

True... but I won't miss the infuriatingly predictable cross-zone pass from Kane to Panarin for the one-timer on every power play.

I don't agree with him necessarily, it ws just nice to see JR say something that wasn't insane for once. I like Murphy's potential.

Keith and Seabrook will never be paired together...they are the only vet on the back end who aren't dead!

Bottom 6 is still a bit of a train wreck....

And the Anisimov for Panarin is $4.5M in salary vs. $7.5M for Breadman in two years. So that's not really equivalent... Plus Jeremy Morin morphed into Richard Panik in the original Anisimov-Saad trade.

The next trade will be coach Q!! But at least he can't do a Keith-Hammer pairing any more!!!!!

Here is the backstory. Once upon a time a GM gave an absurd contract to a guy named Seabrook and now he is an untradeable albatross forcing the team to make lots of moves in order to field a team.

The end

The term, dollars and more importantly the NMC will be an anchor for a lot of years. Hopefully they get a cup or two along the way.

cost certainty and the hawks wouldnt be able to afford the raise to hammer in a couple years. it's not a good move from a fan's standpoint but long term it makes the most sense due to the 2 and more the 7 contracts

Seabs is not fast enough to cover for a young kids mistakes, and Forsling is gonna make them. Maybe they deal for another D-man.

Of course Arizona guy tanner thinks they "fleeced" us on the hammer trade and basically said Murphy is just terrible. And douphin is there worst prospect. so a complete and udder steal according to him. Love the Saad deal. Panarin did NOTHING in 2 playoff appearances, good to get some balls back and hopefully some instant chemistry. net front presence as well. put him on the pk and pp. like it. hammer is one of a kind can't replace that but i also don't think murphy is a bag of pucks there tanner. he was captain of the U.S world championship team. if that means anything.

You read that hot garbage? THE worst HB blogger. By far. Totally off the cuff. Zero understanding of finances. Zero. Every player viewed in his made up vacuum. Terrible.

that guy is a A+ warrior dman...his shot blocking and smart dplay will be missed big time...

luv the saad trade: with hossa out needed a big power guy so you trade a perimeter guy who was tired at the end of last year...plus you get a bonus year with saad

hey Stan, can we bury Rosy in the AHL now and sign Matt Greene to a 1 or 2 yr, vet type deal. 6'3" 236 RHD that in the 7 yrs in LA where he played 25+ games, he was always a + player. granted injury issues 3 of the past 5 yrs but at say 850k/yr for 2 yrs at age 34, if he fails, his contract could be buried as well at no cap loss.

I really think Fortin and DeBrincat are making the team this year. So should be in there somewhere. We are going younger and quicker.

According to @CapFriendly #Blackhawks are $1,445,628 over the NHL's $75 million salary cap using projected LTIR for Hossa.

I'm more comfortable with the Hawks bringing in a "project" like Murphy on defense now that Kitch is gone and we have the new assistant coaches. Should provide better instruction and focus.

He's got baggage for sure but lots of size and talent as well.
I'm hoping the change of scenery and the leadership in Chicago will help to keep his nose clean

- Yikes726

E Kane, it depends on the cost for a 1 yr player. People will keep trying with a 225lb player who skates like the wind with hands to score 30 plus.
