Long time no chat. How are the skies treating you?
- Jason Millen

Going well. Busy, but having fun. Flew all night last night, slept all day today, and woke up to find that Stan the Maintainer had been a busy boy.

How you been?

You were looking at the wrong Connor Murphy.

Any word on Panarin's reaction to the trade? Someone said Hammer wasn't too happy...

How many teams will actually congratulate the Penguins for their Stanley Cup win?

Fwiw, I don't think Panarin was going to stick around after his current contract was up, so you might as well get as much return as you can.

I don't know how wise it was to sign him to an extension in the first place and not (ironically) do a Saad with his rights as I think you could have gotten a little more for him.

I don't mind Brandon; he's a different player to Panarin, but I mean seriously the 10000 pound gorilla in the room is Toews' cap hit and can he perform? I don't really know, as he hasn't shown anything the last couple of years in the sense that he couldn't even make it work when he had Kane as his regular winger (ie not Q blended during a game). I think he has to show that it isn't him. And the fact is, that it might be.

And most likely it will be Chicago that does it or perhaps Montreal.

Very unhappy, he LOVES the city of Chicago. He still wants to live here (in Chicago) it's like a 2nd home to him.

He can afford to. The guy is being paid millions for mediocrity.
- tredbrta

True. I'd happily withstand some verbal abuse for what he makes a year. Heck I do it not to a degree for a fraction of the pay.

Wennberg getting him the puck? He'll light it up in Columbus.

THAT, at the least, I think was a nice value for value trade for both clubs. If Forsberg is what i think the Hawks are hoping, slight win for CHicago.

- John Jaeckel

A true need for need value for value trade. CLB has plenty of Jenners, Dubinskys, Andersons, Folignos, Hartnells. They need a guy who can finish and Panarin is that player. Hawks needed to get bigger, faster, younger, with cost certainty and did that with Saad.

Hope the excitement level picks up, Kelly Crul's tweets from the LakeShake concert down the street from 1800 W. Madison are more exciting than the draft's tweets and I don't even like country music......

Yet they wouldn't pay Saad the first time but now all of a sudden 6 mil for Saad is OK . If we weren't burdened with these geniuses we would have had both players. So why would anybody think they are smart today?

And the sort of asset this team and system lack. They have to give to get but Motte may end up being one we regret later. If Forsberg pans out it will hurt less.

Now, please sign Cal Peterson so the organization gains some depth at G.

- tredbrta

Motte has the look of someone who may help in the bottom 6, maybe. Still a prospect though and if it takes moving him in the Saad deal I'm ok with it and still hope Motte can tell the Hawks I told you so 5 years from now. ....

And yea, Cal Petersen would be a great get. ....... I'm wondering if they draft goalie Jake Oettinger with #26 pick? Doubtful though. Hawks treat the position as an after thought.
