Wasn' there a Panarin for Saad rumor last season?

With that being said, I hate to lose Hammer, but like the moves and the direction the team is heading.

I will just say, he and Tortorella were not always eye to eye, and as I speculated here the other day, I think CBJ wanted that sniper/gal scoring on the left flank. Saad is a great 2-way player but not the pure dynamic, offensive threat Panarin is. So each time got what it wanted. Forsberg could be a steal in this. Motte, meh. No tears here. I had NO IDEA about Saad. Like I said, he told me personally last winter he loved Columbus. Loved his experience in Chicago but it was all about the future in Cbus. Just built a house here, etc.

All that said, go back and check the thread from the other day, I said, the Jackets need that elite scorer on the wing. Even Saad is not really that.

Despite the terrible contract for Seabrook, there is a reason that Babcock wants this guy on his team. It ain't for his good looks either

Under the radar of all this, AZ is gunning for the playoffs. Acquired Hammer, Stepan, and Raanta.

Kane had two seasons with Panarin and they lit up the reg season.

Toews had three seasons w/Saad & won the Cup twice.

I guess Stan isn't waiting for the draft to announce deals but McDonough made a good choice to wait until after the NBA draft. Nice of the Bulls to get pennies on the dollar for their best player so the Blackhawks will look stellar by comparison no matter the deal.

I like these two deals. I like where it looks like Stan & Co are going with the roster. Sorry to lose Hammer but good to get back a slightly cheaper, cost controlled player 6 years younger. Getting the extra term on Saad's deal helps too.
