I dont mind this, the difference between the draft picks in this draft are probably nothing. Sundqvist isnt anything special.

Yes this seems counter to what won the Pens the past two cups, but they probably need to evolve anyway. Pens have to take a whole lot of punishment to play the skill game, maybe they want to dish some out.

Reeves can skate, he isnt Sestito.

^ THIS

Pens need to be able to put a guy in if the going gets tough who isn't a total plug like Sestito

This guy fits that bill

Call me wrong when Sundqvist plays 100 NHL games and is tearing it up on a winning team

It was a 20 spot drop in a weak draft, we got back #51

Stop acting like we gave up a 1st and got nothing back

Sundqvist was obviously a bust. Sullivan coached him and obviously though so little that he didn't have much of a future here

See my post above. Just a little surprised they went so high for a goon. A goon with speed, but a goon nonetheless. It was trading down 20 in a weak draft, not really giving up a first, so it's is not that bad.

Just surprised that was such a priority. They must have been really, really pissed about their players getting beat up.

Did the pens lead the nhl for man games lost to injury in both the reg season and playoffs?

Bold prediction.............

Ryan Reaves becomes a fan favourite - AND, HB fave as well (except for those that follow Corsi, pass completion & Fenwick statistics ).

But he has to punch (frank) out of the following players before he does;
1. Niskanen (dog)
2. OV
3. Wilson (any & all types just kidding except for the Tom type)
4. Dubinsky
5. Craig Adams
6. Lundqvist (just for a giggle)
7. Oshie
8. Marc Staal
9. Dion - all types along with all their parents for calling them that.
10. The whole Blowjobs blue line

Now, who did I forget??? He's going to be a busy (frank)ing boy Ol Reavesy!!

The biggest problem I have with this trade is it opposes what made the Pens successful - speed.

I'm over the loss of assets and I guess I'll rationalize it by thinking we traded for "less injured" versions of Crosby/Malkin/Letang in the coming years.

Im inclined to agree with you. I ormally trust GM JR, but I dont understand this.
You win TWO CUPS BACK TO BACK built on speed and skill, so now you change your approach to go get goons? IF thats your approach, go take your services east....

Obviously. It's just that guys like Reaves usually could be had for a lot less? Not that they don't need someone like him, but aren't these guys easily found?

Yohe said numerous times, the stars loved having Sestito in the lineup. He repeated this multiple times last year.

We might think it sucks but we're not the ones getting sticks to our heads and faces.

I'm looking forward to the day when Reaves knocks the snot out Douchebinsky.

I'm gonna remember this day... for the 2017 season. I have feeling a lot of you will be changing your tone when Reeves poop kicks Dubinsky and all those other little piss ants. No he's not gonna punch him out, he's gonna rock him on the boards and they're gonna know a little better not to mess around with the pens players. Until that day

And the Blues draft Kostin with the pick to add insult to injury. How did he fall that far and how did Rutherford develop dementia this progressive this fast? I feel like Rutherford just kicked me in the balls.

This better not be WHY Reaves is now a Penguin.

Cus, this was nothing amazing. He just timed it better than Shultz!

It doesn't though. Dude needs very little icetime (Sunds time?) to deter even a fraction of the bs the stars take. Less bs for those stars....more freedom to light up the league and play sully type hockey. And if it's a total bust...oh well so was sund.

How do you overpay soooooooo much?!! It's not that I necessarily hate Reeves so much it's that he could have been had for A LOT less that a first round pick and a centre prospect we have slowly marinated and is ready to go.

Other teams aren't going to try & run & gun the Pens anymore. They aren't going to try & just lock Sid up - we won 3 cups with them doing that so far. Other teams I believe will try & use the trap like antics of the Sens to slow the game down, bring in more physicality due to the structure employed.

If we can't use our speed & skill to its fullest, what else can we do? Teams are changing the game as the Hawks & now Pens changed it to speed & skill.
