Pens have a talentless goon already. Why trade for another.?

I think we needed toughness despite what anyone says or what the results were. I like Reaves. I don't value late round draft picks much.

BUUUUUUTTTTTT....this was terrible. No other word for it.

- T-Train

See a 5th round pick or lower and I wouldn't really question it. But this is a whole lot of CRAP.

Agreed. This is a bad trade from an asset mamagememt standpoint, but probably doesn't effect the Cup defense unless Sundqvist has a big breakout.
- Tojo.

Just a waste of a future. For no reason.

They wanted a tough guy, and got one. Not sure I would have done that, since Sesito cost zero and if basically this guy minus a few pounds and inches.

People were wondering why he wasn't exposed by St. Louis, and maybe this was why?

They must not have liked Sundquivst, obviously. More tellingly, they must have their eyes on some 3rd and 4th line C in free agency or trade. Who?

Out come all the hockeybuzz experts on how Sundqvist was wasting a space or is a complete bust and how this is great value.
- ImScore71

I know I've been plenty impressed by Sundqvists NHL stat line

And what does Sullivan know about it anyways, not like he coached the guy before or anything...

Well that is one more RW spot taken up to block Sprong/Reese. I hope Reeves is re-traded before the season is done. Every time I see him on ice I will be reminded of this garbage trade.

Lol I doubt Rutherford is done with this goon/toughness crap. It is just getting started. Can't wait to blow all of our cap space on trash.
- Witchkingrider

I just feel he thinks Sundqvist might only top out as a 4th liner. I hope he's done adding this kind of toughness.

He still has my complete faith.

I can whinge & female dog with the best of them, but playing Reaves (if/when he plays), who does that take off the ice?

Sundqvist wasn't on the ice, & I do realise we traded from a position that needs a little reinforcing, & may not of got a chance to be on the ice depending on what JR has up his sleeve?

In saying that Reaves probably could of been had with a 3rd rounder come deadline time!

I hope so too. He had my complete faith until this trade. If he makes up for it in FA or other trades then he will regain it. I just don't see the need to change a winning formula.

Seems clear they have 3rd and 4th centers all but done...my guess Cullen is back and they have a big hot smoking stick burning in a fire type trade .

I don't mind the acquisition, reeves is better than sestito, he can skate and hit like an anvil, no problem having one of those guys. Not a fan of the 20 spots they drop. Guess they really didn't like their draft board, personally I would've gone up to montreals pick at 25 and got that centre if possible. He looks like an NHL guy in a year.

Sundqvist, barely knew him, don't know what we are or won't be missing.

Maybe they include Reeves in a trade for Duchene?

Ya.. . Ya that's it, just got to be patient here...Colorado is poorly managed.... they probably wanted a goon in the package.... ya ya this all makes sense...

JR said he wanted toughness that could play.....Reaves had 7 goals last year on a St Louis team that plays defence first.

All these fans getting such emotional feelings.....try to R E L A X...its no blockbuster here....we are talking about swapping 4th liners here. All these "talent" scouts on here are hilarious!!

- Darklight11

Yes man. This is what I'm saying. He also has decent wheels and seems like a player who will give his all for Sully. I never ever felt Sundqvist was gonna cut it. He may but I don't think he will. I think it was waiting around for the Pens to draft a 1st round pick i and it not happening is part of what rustled alot of jimmies.

Such a waste of future. That kid at 31 could've been Angelo Esposito or Joe morrow or pouliot or Bennett or despres

Reaves had 7 goals last year, and 27 in his career. Sesito is actually bigger and heavier.

Not sure I would have traded Sunquivst and a first rounder for him. Weird.

I dont mind this, the difference between the draft picks in this draft are probably nothing. Sundqvist isnt anything special.

Yes this seems counter to what won the Pens the past two cups, but they probably need to evolve anyway. Pens have to take a whole lot of punishment to play the skill game, maybe they want to dish some out.

Reeves can skate, he isnt Sestito.

4th line looks like Reaves, Rowney, and some guy who won't score because he's playing with Reaves and Rowney. About the only thing on his hero chart Reaves does well is shot suppression, so hopefully they just don't get killed because this line won't be what it was with Cullen. We'll be back to a 3 line team with a 4th with a goon, a pk specialist, and probably one guy like Wilson who can play.

Maybe Hags can give him some tips to get even faster, cus that is the only way I see him being worth what just happened!

It was a 20 spot drop in a weak draft, we got back #51

Stop acting like we gave up a 1st and got nothing back

Sundqvist was obviously a bust. Sullivan coached him and obviously though so little that he didn't have much of a future here

I agree with this sentiment. I guess they didn't like the draft or Sundquist all that much.

Maybe they are higher on Zach Aston-Reece for lower line C than we think?

Definitely rustled mine. That and I was expecting a better trade involving our first if there was one.

I wonder what Crosby, Malkin and Letang think of the Pens losing Sundqvist and dropping down 20 picks for someone who'll have their backs ?
