My concussed brain doesn't remember crap, but I was more than good with the pick.

Some people were forsure but lots werent and wanted virtanen. I dislike Vancouver, but pretty early to call it a bad day for them lets hope lindgren is similar to nylander in the sense they were both supposed to be top 5 or better picks before up and down draft seasons.

Good thing the fans weren't making the pick I guess. I think I was actually a fan once I checked out his highlights and read up on him, but I hadn't been posting on here then.

Yeah i think that was it too most people had heard a ton about canadian boys virtanen and ritchie plus Ehlers played CHL. It all worked out, pretty happy with how this year did too. Hopefully he pans out but he might not but im happy they took a high ceiling player

Yes...sometimes it takes a while to find out if they've Biggs'd the draft.

#59 + ? to move into the 32-40 range?
- As_I_See_It

Shouldn't be hard, McPhee still has a boner for Fehr, give him Fehr our 59, and another piece for pick number 34

Funny enough, even Rielly might have been picked before we got a chance to draft him if he hadn't been injured in his draft year. He tore his ACL and missed like half the year, which may have been why he wasn't picked a little higher. Obviously only falling to #5 isn't nearly as dramatic, but the injury still may have pushed a few teams to pick others, like Murray or Reinhart.

Now we get Liljegren because he suffered Mono for a couple months in his draft year.

I think we're a little safer these days since we seem to be drafting primarily for skill, rather than pugnacity, truculence, and character.
According to Burke, you couldn't teach character, but skill could be taught...Sure it can. Tell that to Biggs.

Nice feeling to be able to have trust and faith in management.

Agree, but this is the second year in a row where he picked fifth and selected a player not expected to be picked in the top ten. Both players that are not NHL ready. Last year he could have had Tkachuk, this year the 3rd rated player in the draft was on the board and he picked a Swede - because he is tight with the Sedins. Pettersson should be a good player down the road, Vilardi is good now.

He was defiently said to go top 10 in some lists, they weren't the only team to skip on Vilardi either

Anyone else think they should try and pick a goalie tomorrow? We don't have much for goaltending in the pipes

No half the people here wanted virtanen if i remember correctly. Some did want Ehlers, Nylander was rarely mentioned and there was the typical (frank) this team comments after im sure some people werent getting to upset about it but lots werent happy
- ClarksonDavid

Most on here were surprised with the pick...although they'll say the opposite now.
I was on the ehlers and virtanen train, glad management decided to not listen to me that one time.

I compared the Sens pick to Lazar.

Sadly that back fired on me cause we just picked Brandon Gormley.

Liljegren at #17 feels like a steal.

In a couple of years that MAY make Gardiner expendable for that 2nd pairing. Imagine he holds some value, especially in today's D climate
