Seems to be far superior to his present teammates, and it lessens his dominance. If his hockey IQ reads openings on the ice and linemates don't see what he does, they are less likely to be in advantageous. This makes him seem less effective, but his high skills are less evident.

--Bill Placzek--

I had thought something similar, how it might be that his skill allows him to dominate on PP but the rest of the team brings down his 5v5 play. Kind of like how our high end skill got us a good PP but the lack of depth/Coach/D killed us.

Interesting point
I'll definitely be watching some Minnesota games this year
A decent number of them get broadcast
I remember watching Fasching play like 6 times or so his last year there

I just hope the kid isn't another Connor Hurley
Wasted pick that was

one thing I thought I caught from his interview was that he said that he was double and triple teamed nearly all the time

I think the exciting thing about Middlestadt is that he could be one and done and potentially join the sabres at the end of the year like Keller did. Im just very concerned about his transition into college coming from high school. Im having flash backs of Connor Hurley and Mark Jankowski. Both drafted out of high school and highly touted but never made the transition into college that everyone hoped. Its a little scary.

All we have is Johansson
We might not take one in the 2nd...
But I could definitely see us pick a guy or 2

Eden Prairie and Center are their only similar traits. Mittelstadt is leagues better.

He played both it seems. 24 games at Eden Prairie High (64 points) and 25 games for Green Bay Gamblers in USHL (30 points).

According to Baker, he played 16 games for GB, then played for his high school, then went back to Green Bay when HS season ended.

one of the big differences between hurley and mittelstadt, besides the rounds they were selected in, is their frames...mittelstadt has an nhl ready frame where as hurley didn't and still doesn't

I remember everyone on here saying how Hurley would've been a 1st round pick, blah blah blah

And I was like,
"We could've had Santini!!!"

I'm always nervous about drafting kids outta high school

Having 31 picks in the first round is still weird to me. I thought "2nd rounder" when pick 31 got traded
