TimmyP with some useful reporting.
http://www.csnphilly.com/...-position-trade-nhl-draft
Hextall reiterated he's not comfortable going with Neuvirth and Stolarz as his duo for next season because of the former's injury history and Stolarz's inexperience.
"Let's see if we can find an option that is better for us short term," Hextall said. "There is always an option. Is [Stolarz] the best option? I don't know if you can say that."
Loose pucks
Hextall said if forward Jordan Weal wants to wait and test free agency, then so be it. He added he does plan to speak to Weal's agent, J.P. Barry, at the draft to try and get this deal done before July 1. ...
Hextall said he protected Scott Laughton in the expansion draft because he feels the 23-year-old has greatly improved his overall game after last year's season in Lehigh Valley and can make the Flyers' roster. "I don't know why people are surprised about [Laughton being protected]," he said. "Personally, for Scotty, I think a lot of things came to him very quickly and it hurt Scotty. Last year, he figured it out." |

Couturier vs Sheifele would be the more apt comparison.
Coots was considered NHL-ready, all-around game, ranked very highly on consensus lists all year, very safe high end pick, but he missed a lot of games in his draft year and that affected his draft position.
Scheifele came out of obscurity (Junior B) and shot up the rankings prior to the draft, had very apparent dynamic skill, better overall skater, but he was really scrawny and obviously needed more time.
Winnipeg took a calculated gamble taking Scheifele over Coots, and it's worked out well for them. Now I think Nolan will end up a better offensive player than Coots, but I still have lingering doubts about his overall upside relative to Nico. - Tomahawk
Part of me thinks that Nico is going to be the real high-end player - future All-Star whereas Nolan will be more of a Trevor Linden type player. 2nd line center gradually turning into a defensive-forward that never produces more than a couple 20 goal seasons. That's a great player to have but the Flyers already have one of those. They need a Giroux replacement bad, especially considering Giroux's swan dive off a cliff this past season. |

Good luck to all you PC users and mobile device users. I'm only connecting to this website on a mac with google chrome and adblock plus enabled. - Pixote Andolini
Yeah, I'm on my phone. It's brutal trying to post today. You get redirected to a site saying you won an Amazon or Wal Mart gift card and no matter how many times you hit the back button you just get redirected to other phoney prize sites. You have to hit the main page again and go back into the thread that way. He's basically doubling his hits with this nonsense. |

Nice to see Ek has ramped up the re-direct advertisements for draft day. I know I sound like a broken record by now but Bill, please launch your own website. This is getting to be absurd. - hereticpride
I pay the protection money... I'm on here enough it's worth it, and I like to believe my contribution goes directly to Bill and no one else. |

It's a much better start that Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Florida, Anaheim, Atlanta, Nashville, Minnesota, or Columbus had. - jmatchett383
Not disagreeing, but it definitely felt like VGK went out of their way to not select the ripe fruit dangling in front of their face. |

I can honestly see Hextall trading the number 2 pick, Neuvrith and Schenn to Vegas for their 6th overall and Pierre Edouard-Bellamare. |

I am not proposing a Simmer trade. I love Simmer. If he gets a much deserved raise, based on his FUTURE performance as a 31 year old under sized, power forward, and NOT for past performance. With a reasonable term great. lets keep him. - jaws1955
i'm kind of amazed at that extension scenario you posted though. 8 years at 9.5 for a player in his 30s. |

I think Patrick I is a much better shooter then Linden. Mobility long term is my main concern with him. |

Well, not everyone is as big a fan of AMac as you, however, if you read my post, I clearly stated that moving AMac was the least important part of the deal for me - BiggE
Its funny cause the guys on the HockeyPDOCast episode I listened to this morning during my commute took a dump all over his go-to pro-Amac argument specifically using Amac as an example.
They also talked about Cooter vs. Scheifele bringing up the fact that the Flyers playing Coots alongside pylons for his first 3 years likely stunted his offensive development. I know its been discussed here, but nice to see it reinforced by analysts that know what they're talking about. |

Can't trade for the player back once taken in Expansion draft until Jan. 1st I believe.
But I can see Neuvirth going to Vegas for Pickard in some deal. |

Well, for discussion purposes that is a RIDICULOUS Extension contract. That is kind of the point. 4 or 5 years @ 6 to 7 a year works. It is proven year after year that the big tail off hits at 30. Pay him for future production, not because he has had a deal that has been good for the team and Hexy thinks he owes him. |
