In Schenn's defense, he was always being moved all over line up, and has had to play every forward position. This wasn't being asked of anyone else.
- SuperSchennBros

Fair enough. Although, TBH, Read got moved back and forth from LW to RW and played on different lines quite a bit, as did, to a lesser extent, Raffl.

Agree and I expect a bigger role for Konency also. I believe Read will get dealt soon and I don't expect Laughton to be the 13th forward. Either he makes the roster or he'll be traded for a pick, IMO. The youth movement has definitely arrived. I expect 4 more rookies at least this year starting opening night.

Schenn had 3 less points than Giroux in 3 less games last season. He had one more point than Wayne Simmonds. He added toughness to the lineup. He scored a majority of his points on the power play-- I get that concern. But power play points count. Morgan Frost is at least 3 years away from playing in the NHL, if ever. Jori Lehtera adds nothing . The 2018 draft is supposed to be fantastic, but it's going to be another late pick... what are your expectations there?

The Flyers' LW depth is now, Lindblom, Weal, Filpulla, and Raffl. Unless you're trading Couturier for Alex Galchenyuk (who is likely a full-time LW now), I don't see how anyone can feel re-energized by this deal.

Might as well tear it all down.

Lindblom and Patrick are on the way, Hexy's making room for them while picking up two 1st-round picks. Lehtera is a short-term cap dump, but isn't useless.

To his credit, Schenn put up points, but let's not pretend he's the straw that stirs the drink on the PP. His ES/defensive/consistency issues are well documented.

- Tomahawk

You know what? From a PP standpoint, Schenn is as any for puck support on the Power Play and making plays in tight/small areas. In my opinion, Schenn played the toughest spot on the PP to produce.

Pretty sure that Morin will more than make up for any toughness lost in trading Schenn.

Also, I think there is a better chance that the pick they got from St Louis in 2018 ends up more mid round than late and finally, Schenn is god awful at ES on the left side. The only time he puts up any decent numbers at ES is playing RW with Couturier and that is mainly due to Coots. Pretty much everyone he plays with does better at ES than when they play with other centers. Schenn wasn't going to fix their problems at LW, and you also forgot to mention Konecny when listing those left wingers.

Sure. Neither was asked to play center.

Look a thing it this way. Brayden Schenn with all his shortcomings was still a Swiss Army knife. If Patrick and Coots get hurt at one time or both become inconsistent in producing this coming season, I'm gonna feel like we traded Schenn too soon.

I think trading schenn sets the flyers back a little.Nobody knows what patrick or lindblom or any other kid will be.Your 2 stars are coming up on 30.Im a little confused on the direction of the team.A team thats starving for offense trades a 25 goal scorer for a bunch of unknowns. This looks more of a rebuild move than a retool move.So if rebuild is the direction trade giroux or voracek as well.

I'm looking forward to never hearing the term Schennergy used by our announcers again tbh.

Or Hextall and company just have faith in guys like Lindblom and Patrick to be able to step in and find ways to contribute. I don't think they'll be blowing up the core of the team.

The whole team was bad at ES. You get gifted the 2nd pick and u leave the draft and ur team is worse. Good stuff

What in hextalls past indicates those 2 will be on the flyers roster ? It's more likely they are not based on his past moves

This core has done nothing. Why nit blow it up

I agree. Are we more competitive no way than we were before? With the uncertainty in net, I would argue no we aren't.

Out: Schenn

In: Provorov with a year's experience under his belt, the same for Konecny, hopefully a full season of Weal, Patrick, Lindblom, Morin, Hagg, and, at some point during the season possibly Sanheim.

Yeah, they're much worse. JFC, they traded Brayden Schenn not Patrick (frank)ing Kane!

Provorov and Konecny both made it right out of the draft. Lindblom has put his time in and just about every every scout scout has said Patrick belongs in the NHL. So thats enough for me to go off of.

Hextall could conceivably still move another core piece but I think you're setting yourself up for disappointment if you hoping for him to have a firesale on core players today.

Yes because he gave some Dmen, who traditionally take longer than forwards to develop, some time in the AHL means he will do the same with Patrick and Lindblom.

Oh, Provorov and Konecny say hello.

It's the strangest thing. We still have Dale Weise. Five on five I thought Schenn and Coots got him going. Plus you add to the fact Schenn was an impact player to the Power Play. I'm hoping Hextall can balance things out because right now I see an odd mix.

I mean, we're still stuck with Dale Weise!!!

I think this is stretch. Weal still has a lot to prove. We don't know what Lindblom is (possibly another Raffl?). The defensive prospects have nothing to do with Schenn. Konecny is going to be good regardless of who plays with (And there began the second season jinx).

Do they say hello? Did either make the flyers after they were drafted or was it back to juniors ?

No it doesn't mean but is likely based on his history and what he preaches no?

On the fence as far as the trade....don't really like the guy coming back. Schenn's contract is only a slight over pay....Jori's contract f in sucks. But I have been saying all along it's the core that has failed. Schenn, being part of that is expendable and two late first rounders seems ok. We'll see.
