I think you're drastically overvaluing the importance of moving MacDonald to better the future cap situation as part of the deal, versus the importance of this pick. This was a gift and gave the Flyers a legitimate chance to obtain a future top line center. Moving MacDonald would have no influence on trading the #2 pick if I was involved.
- MJL

Well, not everyone is as big a fan of AMac as you, however, if you read my post, I clearly stated that moving AMac was the least important part of the deal for me

well they only moved up like 4 or 5 picks there, right? I think it was 29 to 24 for a 2nd

anyway...yeah something like that

- YuenglingJagr

That 2nd was pick #61. They have 44 now, but I thought they had another 2nd. Oh well.

It not a slight on Simmer, but the flyers should be analyzing when they can cash in many of there assets for the highest return. I love Simmer and would hate to see him traded but if they got a haul for him that could solidify the future of the franchise you have to make that move. We aren't there yet, but were getting much closer to seeing if Hexy version of the Dean Lombardi plan is gonna work.
- nonpoint22

I am not proposing a Simmer trade. I love Simmer. If he gets a much deserved raise, based on his FUTURE performance as a 31 year old under sized, power forward, and NOT for past performance. With a reasonable term great. lets keep him.

Same. Give me the guy who's been getting the accolades since he was 15 over the guy who's been getting them for 4 months.

Really dont think you can just bring up two other people and say this is what will happen. Not accusing you of doing that, just saying it is worthless when trying to decide who to take.

Sanheim also came out of nowhere in 2014. Then you have recent guys like Rubstov, Keller, PLD over JP

I think Schenn has a Ntc kicking in soon. Like the Carter deal back awhile ago.

The only thing i'll say is that none of these guys were top 2 picks.

jmachette also brought up the Lecavieler/Legwand draft.

I'm just saying that, when there's a fast riser and an incumbent competing for 1 and 2, and they both play the same center, give me the incumbent.

So here's my random prediction for the draft weekend:

Flyers leave draft with either Calvin Pickard or Anders Nilsson as starter for 2017-2018 season

Couturier vs Sheifele would be the more apt comparison.

Coots was considered NHL-ready, all-around game, ranked very highly on consensus lists all year, very safe high end pick, but he missed a lot of games in his draft year and that affected his draft position.

Scheifele came out of obscurity (Junior B) and shot up the rankings prior to the draft, had very apparent dynamic skill, better overall skater, but he was really scrawny and obviously needed more time.

Winnipeg took a calculated gamble taking Scheifele over Coots, and it's worked out well for them. Now I think Nolan will end up a better offensive player than Coots, but I still have lingering doubts about his overall upside relative to Nico.

There's clearly something going on with VGK. They stockpiled draft picks and selected mostly middle of the pack type players - or unproven youngsters with not the most amazing high-end prospect status. When your stars are Fleury, Garrison, Neal and Haula you know there has to be a lot of deals in the works.

Nice to see Ek has ramped up the re-direct advertisements for draft day. I know I sound like a broken record by now but Bill, please launch your own website. This is getting to be absurd.

It's a much better start that Ottawa, Tampa Bay, Florida, Anaheim, Atlanta, Nashville, Minnesota, or Columbus had.

because Jake isn't a power forward and was younger at the end of the contract and no-one who scores 55 points a season gets $9.5 million per year. don't be moronic
- bulet13

OK, well you have certainly put my mind at ease. Not worth discussing any further.
Questioable contracts from Hexy that have been discussed:
Pebs
Weise
Jake
Rinaldo
VDV
Ghost
He may over value some players. Did any of these guys play to the value of their contract LAST year.
BTW, I am throwing out ideas for open discussion. no need for you to get personal and be a DOUCHE BAG about it
