Literally anyone who can stand there and take a shot. It's not like he did anything on the PP exepct be the 3rd option for a pass/2nd in line for a rebound. - hereticpride
He was an excellent PP player in that role and that is selling him very very short. Couturier cannot replace him, though I hope he gets his shot on PP2 net front.
My guess is Lindblom is perfect for that spot. Perfect. Let Nolan QB PP2. |

I may say something that sounds crazy to many, but makes sense in my mind: I would try Laughton in Schenn's spot on the PP. I think his shot would play well in that spot.
I'm sure Lindblom will get a look as well. The Flyers may just decide to overhaul the PP completely considering they brought in a new coach. It may be in the team's best interest to figure out a way to get Patrick on the top unit as well. He has a great shot. - PhillySportsGuy
Not crazy at all. It's very possible that Lindblom needs some AHL time too. |

We picked Nolan Patrick in the draft and most of us would have murdered a homeless guy to get this guy before the Flyers luckily got the 2nd pick in the draft.
And somehow, we're fixated on how we're replacing Brayden Schenn's PP contribution? Really? - johndewar
The draft is great but the Flyers traded away a good hockey player that has been a 20+ goal and 50+ player for a few years. That's not easy to replace and the Flyers have been a team that has had scoring issues. It's a legitimate concern.

He didn't even play PP2 on Phantoms. They made up their mind with that. |

I agree, but it's not like Hextall is filling that spot with spackle and duct tape. |

If I had to guess I'd say they'll dump Read and Filppula tomorrow with some picks attached to them.
Hopefully pick up a goalie too. That should leave them in ok shape. - hereticpride
Can promise you they wont |

I simply don't like this trade. We got two years of a garbage contract and a high 1st round pick in an crap draft. 2018 pick will prolly be around 20 in a much better draft. Unless something else is coming we just went backwards from a strong top 9 |

I wish they would just accept that he's not a two-way forward |

2nd line wingers aren't extremely difficult to find/develop though |

Lindblom? Weal?
Or the dude that we picked with the 2nd pick that people have been touting since he was 14?
We're not going to miss Brayden Schenn IMO. - johndewar
Weal isn't even signed. And Lindblom hasn't played an NHL game yet.
Flyers took an inferior player back who is overpaid for his level of production. How often do late first round picks become NHL regulars?
Schenn isn't great by any means, but he does score goals.

That's very shortsighted. Not only did Schenn score on the PP but he was also paramount to the success of the PP by winning puck battles and puck races for loose pucks. He was very strong in that area.

Know who worked out OK being picked around the 20th pick?
Claude Giroux and Simon Gagne. |

I dont think hextall is done. I have a feeling there will be.more to reshape roster. Also they did get another first next year that maybe they use as ammo |

Exactly..
RIght now Patrick has never done anything in the NHL while Schenn has produced over the last few seasons..
I like where they are now and where they are going even better but it doesnt mean losing Schenn is automatically replaced by a few rookies.. |

Truthfully?
I'd put Couturier's big ass there and give him every opportunity to make that work - AllInForFlyers
I wouldn't, I want him going every other shift on the PK. I'd give Lindblom a long look in that spot. However, the new pp coach may radically change the basic set up so we may see quite a few changes. The only guaranteed locks on the 1st unit are G, Simmons and Ghost. |

Look at every team's roster. See how many 20+ goal 50+ point forwards they have. May not be extremely difficult but also not that easy to find.

I'm conflicted. Love adding first round picks and top prospects but also like current players who can score.
