Guys, relax about Lehteras salary. It no doubt helped out the value of the deal (next years first I would assume) they still have plenty of space available. It is not a hinderance to them
- YuenglingJagr

I dont even care about the money as much. I just worry they will play him (memories of Umberger), for some unknown reason. In turn blocking a kid. We shall see.

Interesting. We'll miss Schenn on the pp, but he's crap at ES.
- BiggE

Hextall never liked him. Nolan lindblom tk coots should be able to take his role.

I can see that if you look at Lehtera coming back just for cap purposes. Obviously the picks are the real value in the deal.

100% accurate.

Bob saying Patrick is a lock for the NHL.
- Feanor

I realize that Hextall makes that call, but if that's the case, then somebody's heading out -- they might start Patrick on the wing, but why? Kid's played center his whole life

Slam dunk for the Flyers. Hextall fleeced St. Louis.

Signed,

I'd rather have Lehtera than Flip. But both is crazy to me. Something more has to be going on than just shipping out Read or someone.
- Mononoke

Don't forget all the picks they have tomorrow. They might start sending some of these bad contracts out with picks attached to them.

Not if they want to pay a goalie $7m.
- Feanor

Fleury makes 7 million?

If Frost develops into a solid NHL'er I'm 100% fine with this deal. Obviously Lehtera is not part of the long term plans.

Have to look at it in terms of having the ability to fit the money under the Cap with the situation moving forward short term. If the Flyers hit on the first rounders then it goes a long way to setting the team up for the future.
- MJL

Yup. I am all in for a rebuild. It depends on the firsts. I can look past the contract they had to take back.

Just dont want to see another Umberger/Vinny situation where he plays for some stupid reason blocking a kid.

Blues will likely be awful next year. That pick will most likely be top 10ish

Or a goalie.
Or a defenseman.
Or freeing cap space to sign Alzner.

- Tfaehner

But what goalie is even available now?

It was crazy that Vegas didn't take at least one more goalie to flip -- Fleury ain't coming here

But with Raanta moved and Smith traded, who is even worth the get -- Grubauer, maybe? What's that cost? Washington can't take any money back

Seriously. STL fans hated the dude we got back in that trade.

There are gonna be people that piss and moan when Schenn puts up 50 or so points for STL next year.

But the assets coming back were worth sending Schenn off IMO.

Look back at all the complaining about Umberger and Lecavalier and how dire it was. Overblown. Hextall knows what he's doing. Have to let it play out.

Could be that Hexy has written off signing Weal. If that's the case, they have 16 forwards battling for 14 spots and I can easily see Leier and a Vecchione starting the season in the minors.

Really?

Lehtera is very slow had has dropped 10 points each of the past two years. I don't know if he can even play wing.

LOL

Now you're just picking at folks -- Blues are gonna be fine next year. They had stopped listening to Hitch and needed a new voice, but the 99 points they had last season were legit

I liked a couple of prospects after Frost..and was a little surprised....but the way some of these draft picks have turned out I'll trust this scouting staff over my opinion.

Yeah, my initial reaction was kind of negative but you just gotta wait and see what they do tomorrow. I suspect a couple guys will be sent packing.

How many years left on his deal?
