That's why the Flyers should ask about him if dealing with Dallas. The Flyers need this type of player. it seems that Manning and a 30 goal scorer were the only ones to drop the gloves. I don't want to say they were a "soft" team last year, but they were a team who needs more "character". Roussel is no Hartnell but he pisses people off and isn't afraid to drop them.

Yeah cause the last couple of cup champions had an agitator on the fourth line and people who "had character"

it's harder to do that with the cap in place. Simmer might be the only guy we have under contract that will work for. That said, I don't want to trade him.

Yeah, he'd be a tough guy to move and with 2 years still on his current deal, there is no rush to do so. However, unless they think they are a legit contender going into 18-19 (pretty unlikely), next offseason would be the smart time to move him.

I'm very leery about re-signing soon to be 31 year old power forwards to long term, big money deals.

Roussel had 12 goals and 27 points in 60 games and was a +1 on a very bad Dallas team. He can play at ES and he can kill penalties as well, agitating the opposition is just a bonus.

I would worry about Roussell getting penalized more as a Flyer. The refs see Orange and the arm goes up.

Also the deal he is on right now is super affordable so that is something that every team can use.

I wonder what AZ will do. With what happened last night they seem like a team that could do something outrages today.

Don't see it happening, but for me to make that deal, they'd have to take AMac and send us Methot. I'd much rather have Methot pairing with Provy on the top pair than AMac. I'd also let them keep the 15th overall and instead give us their unprotected 2018 pick with the codicil that if it is a top 3 pick, they Flyers will also give them their 2018 2nd.

However, I really think there is very slim to no chance that we will see Hexy making this kind of blockbuster deal today.,

In my mind the importance of this draft to the Flyers future can't be overstated. So you'd value moving MacDonald that much to change your mind about trading the 2nd overall pick? Doesn't add up in my opinion.

He is a solid PK guy.

I wonder if you would be able to get the rights to Nichushkin. I know people seem to sour on him but he could be an interesting prospect.

Agree.

This pick dropped in our laps. This very well could be our future number 1 center(if patrick) i believe.

I'm actually most interested in their 2018 unprotected 1st which will likely be top 5 in what most scouts feel is a stronger draft than 2017, turning AMac into Methot (who has one year less left on his deal) would just be a bonus.

And, actually the importance of this draft to the Flyers can be overstated. Neither of the top 2 guys is a sure fire 1C. You aren't trading McDavid or Mathews or even Eichel if you move that pick. IMO, getting the 6th pick this year, another mid round 2017 1st, LV's unprotected 2018 1st and upgrading your D while simultaneously bettering your long term cap picture is worth making a deal.

I could see Simmonds moving for maybe a pair of the 1st's from Vegas. Not the 6th, but maybe the Jets and Isles pick. I don't know how to feel about it though.

I'm pretty sure Methot is a left side only guy like Provorov. He's not the top pairing complement we are looking for. Provorov-Gudas deserves a shot first.

Not good enough for me. Mid round 1st's in this years draft could be very good players, but they could also just be average players or end up as busts. Besides, I think the better move would be move Simmonds at the deadline to a contender. That's when you'll find a GM to break the bank to get a guy like Simmer that they can afford under the cap.

I'm fine with Provy-Gudas, but IIRC, Provorov, when paired with AMac, often played his off side.

I don't want just picks.

And if Vegas wants him 6 has to be involved.

I think you're drastically overvaluing the importance of moving MacDonald to better the future cap situation as part of the deal, versus the importance of this pick. This was a gift and gave the Flyers a legitimate chance to obtain a future top line center. Moving MacDonald would have no influence on trading the #2 pick if I was involved.

I like Gudas.

Just not as a first pairing guy.
