Yup, unless the Knight's unprotected 2018 1st is part of the deal, there is nothing to discuss. - BiggE

I don't see a particular benefit to added quantity of picks this year (even in round one), especially when they already have 11 picks. Pretty high chance you end up with something along lines of a decent top-six player and two future role players or even a miss among the three. Would rather have a prospect like Nolan, keep developing what's already in house, and trust the scouts to hit on at least a couple other future NHLers from among the picks after the first round. - bmeltzer
Trading for picks always seems like the popular answer to everything. It's been beaten to death that this year is a weak draft. |

If they are dealing with Dallas for a goalie I would like to see Roussel included in a deal with Read a part going back. The guy is a 10-15 goal scorer, a player who creates havoc, and kills penalties. A player the Flyers need - 3flyerkids
The dude every Flyer in the dressing room wants to punch in the face repeatedly? |

I don't think Stars are looking to move Roussel, however. |

Works for me, I'd make the Stars take back Weise in return.

"Imagine the Haul for Simmonds"
the haul could be huge. Remember, he came back WITH Schenn for Richards.
Last 2 years, Schenn and Simmer, about 115 goals, Richards, out of hockey.
The Canadians used to be famous for this, trade a guy a year OR TWO early and get a package of young players and high picks. Not a lot of consistent 30 goal scorers available via trade, locked in for two years on a great deal. Can always resign him as a free agent. I don't see them paying him Jake type deal at 30 though. |

That's the way it is in the NHL. I'm sure Keith Acton made a lot of Flyers nuts before he came here back in the day. Roussel is one of those guys you hate when he is an opponent and you love when he is your teammate. Nick Cousins is the same type of player.

Keith Allen did the same thing in the late 70's. It's called smart asset management.

it's harder to do that with the cap in place. Simmer might be the only guy we have under contract that will work for. That said, I don't want to trade him. |

That's why the Flyers should ask about him if dealing with Dallas. The Flyers need this type of player. it seems that Manning and a 30 goal scorer were the only ones to drop the gloves. I don't want to say they were a "soft" team last year, but they were a team who needs more "character". Roussel is no Hartnell but he pisses people off and isn't afraid to drop them.
