Friedman: I think #Leafs are in the mix for Hamonic. I don't know that #Stars are, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were.

Friedman: I've heard #Isles are asking for two first-round draft picks for Hamonic

(frank)ing hell the asking for top-4 defenders is insane. No wonder teams are signing every douche in Europe clutching their prayer beads

So those time you posted you were near Turtle Jacks in Brampton, you were really scouting over in Europe - quite the decoy.

Leafs are drafting Brannstrom lads. Even if they have to move up.

That would be amazeballs. And a great draft.

There have been several teams that have complained about the Hossa situation. Hossa has one of those highly questionable front end loaded contracts where he is paid only $1 million a year for the last four years but the cap hit is $5.275 million for four more years. NJ got their pee pee slapped by the league for the Kovalchuk deal - trying to circumvent the cap - this is even more obvious. By claiming he is only injured for this year and intending to come back (which is obviously bs) they can put him on LTIR and get cap relief (which is really bs) If they give the Hawks the relief and it turns out he's not coming back - can't undo the relief. I hope they throw the book at the Hawks, lose draft picks and fine like NJ got. Then poke out Hossa's eye with a stick.

Shouldn't it be as simple as the league sending out an independent doctor to verify??

I know, I think he would be a great pick. Have a feeling that Liljegren is better - both are gambles to a certain extent, and this might be a year to make a gamble to try to hit it out of the park.

If the injury is permanent and he retires, Hawks get no relief. Since he is 38 (over 35) full cap hit for remainer of the contract. The way the Hawks are treating it, Hossa $5.275 will not count against the cap this year.

Can you spell c-i-r-c-u-m-v-e-n-t-i-o-n? Or is it c-o-l-l-u-s-i-o-n?? Hawks better hope there are no "tapes" of their meetings with Hossa....

Is Vatanen still available? I would say it depends. No urgency for Ducks to move him anymore. However, Ducks would like to get scoring F

who cares, never played a full season - not once in 8 years. More fragile than Lupul! Buyer beware.

Vatanen only moves if teams step up in their offers over the coming weeks. Otherwise I think the Ducks would be happy to keep him...

sounds expensive..

Funny, but Nick Suzuki might be one of the steals of the draft, very talented hard working scoring smaller centre (along the lines of Marner/Gilmour) who is actually related to David Suzuki.
- winsix

He can go around turning out the lights at the ACC, Ricoh and MasterCard Centre. Good pickup, would save the Leafs big bucks in electricity bills. Also could implement better recycling programs.

Are these guys just linking us to any random D man?

Seabrook, Hamonic, Pysyk, Methot, Miller, Tanev, Kulikov, Trouba or any Anaheim defenseman.

We're gonna be D heavy

I'm ok with taking Brannstrom, rather Liljegren though. Brannstrom's a talented kid, undersized d-man for sure. Some sites have him at 5'9" some at 5'10". The puny size scares me a little.

I know it's likely to happen, but there's something wrong with the world when Hyman is skating on the first line of a NHL team.

I think you all forget that we have Lou and Shanny running the ship. If they had a deal in place they are going to wait and announce it on their terms. I'd bet that the deal for Miller, Methot, or another Dman was done on Tuesday. They want to make sure they can keep it under wraps and surprise everyone. Could be for the simple grandstanding and reputation or could be to allow them to work on other deals regarding the draft and other teams. As everyone stated McPhee stated that once you have a deal with us you are not allowed to deal with anyone else that could hurt their team in deals regarding either team's line up.

We had 5 seasons of a 30 plus goal scorer. Not exactly a lost.
Trade would have fine...had Burke built a better team

Seems like they're just making poop up.

Just this on the down low, but the Leafs are actually close to finalising a trade for Justin Braun. Just trying to iron out prospects and the timing. A few moving parts still
