Pat Maroon in Edm too - annoyed
Pat Maroon won the lottery and got to play with one of the best players in the league, but actually put up good numbers as a result. Hyman spent almost the full season playing beside one of the best centers in hockey and managed 10 goals and 28 points. That says a lot about him. |

yes...but the point is there are more than 1 team rolling with a guy like Hyman on the top line. I'm sure you could go through 1/2 the league and find similiar situations.
I'm not the biggest Hyman fan either...but it could be worse....well maybe. |

Yeah I read somewhere yesterday that it was 2 1sts or a first and mix of good prospect and higher draft depending on prospect. |

Pat Maroon isn't a guy like Hyman though, Rust isn't a guy like Hyman. Those guys benefit from playing with a world class player and actually put up points. I can't think of one contending team in the league who has a guy on their top line who can't contribute offensively. |

Sure I guess, you can look at this way...his center scored the most 5v5 goals in the whole league while having Hyman on his line. You can say it was all Auston if you want or we could say it's a team game and maybe Hyman helped him hit those #'s along with Nylander.
I agree it would be nice to have a little better winger for Matthews but it's also nice to spread out the talent over 3 lines. Hyman does usually get to the puck 1st and puts up a battle along the boards...something you won't see Nylander doing too often...we could drop him back to the 2nd or third line but who do we move up and what does it do to that line?

I honestly don't know, so I fully expect Hyman to be there when the season starts. He's a weak spot in an otherwise very offensively potent lineup though, that's my only point. |

That's a pretty similar comparison: sub out Draisatl for Nylander, McDavid for Matthews... but Hyman and Maroon are two different players and Maroon likely won't repeat that next year. |

Possibly...but you do need a winger who will go get the puck and he could improve, it's not like he's been in the league a long time. Willie ain't going in there to take a check and get the puck...but yes I do agree with you ( him being the weakest on the line )...but I also see why he's there. |
