Or Tanev excels under travis green, and returns to form, and we have a great defenceman under 30 on a great contract for the foreseeable future.

Whatever we do with Tanev benefits this team.

- Crazybagoham

very true. A good and positive way to see this

He wasn't as calm in his own zone this season, I never care about Tanev's points. That's not his game. I'm really hoping Travis green's defensive systems are better for Tanev. Shot blocking isn't his style, he'll typically use his own stick work and strength to get players off the puck.

All season watching Tanev I felt bad for him working his butt off but having to deal with stupid injuries and Willie's god awful systems

- Crazybagoham

except willie had no systems, thats why it was god awful

makar has the projected potential to be a franchise player.
I dont see the others, although they are great players as being franchise player level. Thats the difference.

- SMBDragon

I've heard him rumoured to go to NJ 1st overall. That would be gusty.

You're wasting your time explaining to someone who would be the triplet in a new movie of Dumb and Dumber III.

Thanks funny...although his use of the word "draftist" was not how you labelled yourself.

10 Days in Vegas will only produce two things, checking into rehab afterwards, and owing the mob for excessive gambling.

So looks like Stars are peddling their deal to flip picks for a D. Seems Vegas may be willing to gift them Methot for that jabroni offer. But if they do it. Stars wouldn't have addressed their D issues. So they might trade away 6, which doesn't do much either for them, as well.

I think JB is playing hardball and saying if you want Tanev blow my socks off. He doesn't have to move him now. So if Stars come again and say okay take 6 for Tanev then we got something there. JB may say well throw in a prospect too and we'll take that goalie cap dump off you. It's a possibility that may play out tomorrow.

If Tanev is kept he's probably going to help Hutton to round out top 4 D. JB said in interview today that he saw Guddy to help OJ out and that OJ was a better pairing for puck movement for Guddy. Sorry Vantel but Tanev with OJ is probably premature and a year or two away. OJ according to JB is ready for NHL game with the speed and how fast to process it. But he hasn't filled in on physical side. So we'll see what summer training will do for him for camp. But Guddy helps out OJ on the physical side plus bottom pairing to ease him in to NHL. That seems to be the plan for D this season.

Footnote. JB talked about Tree. He said he has the speed/skating for NHL and to be a #1D. He's holding out hope he will be back. I think he will and by then the Edler and Tanev top D would have been moved out to make room for him.

You would be wrong then
- VANTEL

I just stated that in my opinion what I read about one player(Jouki) was better than what I heard about another in Salo. That type of statement doesn't have an objective truth value, so no. No I am not.

I see McKenzie had said at one point makar could challenge for 1st overall, and that some scouts believe he couls go 1oa. I clearly am not a scout cause i would find it hard to believe he beats nico or nolan but if we end up getting him ill be ok with it

He also has the most bust potential, just to play devil's advocate. Similar to Kostin and Yamamoto in that respect, but plays a much more sought after position.

Where did you get all this from? I know I didn't listen to Jim's 11 minute interview all that well but I don't remember him mentioning half of what you said.

I know as myself in trying to figure out who JB 3 players at 5 he likes are can come up with conclusions but he left that open. He didn't really leave the rest of it open to interpretation.

I'm quite surpised at how few trades were today. I'm sure there will be a lot more when players start to "fall" or are picked earlier then teams expected.

I don't think 33 is much of a drop & if JB is truly a draftist he will make hay with the later picks.
- Nighthawk

You are right about this and hope for the draftist's that JB pulls it off.

I have disliked the term tanker as it really has negative connotations that are spun into a positive. As you know it's an in season used term. But it really is misleading of building through the draft. The distinction being that of draftist as you rightly have used it. To me tanking is the act of gutting a team and purposefully equipping it to finish last, or close to it, to get a top pick. Not the other side of draftist meaning in accumulating and getting quality picks in building through the draft. They have been interchanged now and enjoined by many. So the badge is worn that they are one and the same. I prefer not enjoining them like you and keeping them separate.

Which part on OJ, Guddy and Tree?

Edit: in case you want to listen click below where he talks about them.

The fact that he was talking about playmaking centers so much pretty much left it confirmed for me, he went into it quite a bit. Especially when he said he would consider trading down a couple picks for the right deal, that to me is a guy looking at top10 deep at the center position.

I'm not convinced about him. I would pencil in Heiskaken top 4 Liljegren top 10 and Valimaki mid first.

Had no idea you did such a thing. Was offline but returned and saw your response to Booner calling you out on being fair and impartial. Why have chosen not to engage. But if you see humor in my post then maybe there is some hope you won't be blind to the shots by the haters. Thanks.

Apparently one of the head scouts had him at 1oa

I actually would do Gaudette and the 33 rd for the 20 or 21
- VANTEL

I really like Gaudette and wouldn't trade him. I would gladly throw in 5 or 6 Subban's to move up though
