Well obviously it depends on the pick donny. But anything less then 6 slots is a pretty high price to pay. Quality over quantity 9 times outta 10 but special consideration must be had when your prospect pool is insanely bare. The player must be one tjat managanement Really likes

Well I doubt they trade two seconds for a late first unless it's for a prospect they love

How is it shortsighted if we get a better return at the deadline?
- CanuckDon

Or Tanev excels under travis green, and returns to form, and we have a great defenceman under 30 on a great contract for the foreseeable future.

Whatever we do with Tanev benefits this team.

Kostin seems like on of the gems, so I'm okay with trading the 2nds. But I honestly don't know many players in the 2nd round, so it might be deeper than I think.

Watched the media availability, Tanev is definitely not going anywhere. Sounds like he would've been significantly more comfortable moving him if Sbisa were still here

Yup.
Where is the celebration about moving Luca now?

Well, a bad year from what Montreal was expecting out of him. They really wanted him to be that amazing top line centre.Despite what we think, Montreal didn't like how he played this season. Didn't help that they fired their coach, when they were leading their division. Not my expectations, so dont put words in my mouth.

I agree, he is definitely a solid young player. That's why he's one of the only players (that might be available) I wish JB would trade for.

- Crazybagoham

yeah a lot of people have said he had a bad year but i don't think that's fair at all. How many 21-22yr olds are 1C in the NHL? I guess i kinda understand because he was drafted 3rd so expectations are high, but MTL should hang onto him, his career is just getting going. There's no reason to think this kid can't hit 70-80pts in a year, if he has consistent linemates.

Only if the Canucks think Galchenyuk can play C long-term, otherwise no.

completely agree, they'll never get fair value out of him right now. I want to see Galchenyuk and Drouin together (Habs are one of the few eastern teams I actually watch lately in the regular season)

did he not have a down year this year with the several injuries?

But feel free to nitpick

Since Tanev joined the Canucks full time he has never played a full season, and his points totals would be similar if did play a full year.

Don't see how that is nitpicking.

He wasn't the same player this season, that much was obvious. So you think Tanev was as good this season as he's ever been? I don't. The whole team was terrible.

He did struggle a bit at times down the stretch with injuries, but still was the best Canucks dman(I know, I know, that's like saying I married the most faithful hooker on Hastings).

Either way, he's pretty consistent with his play every year and rarely ever has a bad stretch of games as a shutdown dman.

I don't mind keeping Tanev around. He will still have value this time next year and he is good for our younger Dmen to learn from. Same things I said about Hansen last summer

He wasn't as calm in his own zone this season, I never care about Tanev's points. That's not his game. I'm really hoping Travis green's defensive systems are better for Tanev. Shot blocking isn't his style, he'll typically use his own stick work and strength to get players off the puck.

All season watching Tanev I felt bad for him working his butt off but having to deal with stupid injuries and Willie's god awful systems

I don't mind Tanev either.
I just think it's time we start maximising our assets for futures.
Tanev is one of the very few we realistically have.
I'd rather not risk letting him walk, or get a bad deal at the tdl.
c'est lavie.

Doesn't he play LW too? To me at 22 galchenyuk is a no-brainer talent. Playing center would be gravy.

I think what you saw this year is consistent with what Tanev offers, he is great at being a defensive player, and I think we will see another year of the same from him, because that's what he is...consistent.

If Green has some magic pixie dust to turn him into an offensive/defensive player fantastic, otherwise he will be Tanev.

Strome for Eberle.

Typical Garth Snow

Am I the only one thinking the Islanders have been fleeced again? Not a huge fan of strome, but he improves every year and is like 22? Chiarelli made a great trade imo.

- Crazybagoham

Strome actually declined his last couple years

Isles get a more offensive forward

Oilers get cap relief

I love me some Tanev, so I have the same hopes as you.

Tanev has a shot like a Pool Noodle so I always love seeing him shoot from the blue.

My theory on that is because the Islanders suck

I can see Strome playing 3rd line centre really well (and being happy with it) and allowing Draisaitl/Nuge to stay in the top6. I've never been a fan of Eberle though, too one dimensional, but he could be fantastic with JT.
