I hope teams don't do Vegas any favors and low ball them for those defence. Make them waive them for nothing to hit their roster size...
- Pres.cup

Agreed, they have like a dozen bottom pairing defencemen, but I really want JB to pursue Colin Miller, booming right handed shot that we are missing. TML are gunning for him as well though. A very good replacement for Sbisa, we are weaker on the right side.

Just met with Jim Benning at his media availability, sounds very unlikely that Tanev gets dealt. Said they'd need a d-man back. #Canucks

Stecher hit something, good luck with that, he'll have to chase the kid around the stage for 2 minutes like he does with opposing players in the Canucks end

This is a Canucks thread, show some respect.

We don't go over to the VGK area and pi$$ on your shoes.

What is your feeling on Galyenchuk for Tanev? I think Galy is underachieving and soft. Not sure I want to go down that road.
- VANTEL

I'd want Gallagher over Galchenyuk but Montreal would be stupid to deal him..... but i guess that means theres a chance

1st off I think Torts was the wrong choice by Aquilini for this team at that time. They were a much older more stabilized group that needed guidance and structure. Torts came in and alienated several players from each other, he played players out of their element, the Sedins blocking shots, what the what is that about?

As stated, he was not committed full time to being the coach. The team doesn't reside in the USA, he had no desire to move to Vancouver, didn't show for practices, didn't know the players on the team, on and on.

He was good for Columbus, he did turn that club around and deserves credit where credit is do. I am not a fan of Babcock, he is a good coach, but I think he is overrated, he was gifted Matthews, I like Mariner, and we will see how Nylander works out long term. But I don't buy into the greatest coach shtick, and I'm going to guess that statement will probably bring in a few Leaf trolls, but I can deal with that.

I like Torts and the teams he has coached in the past (outside of VAN, because the roster was not a fit). His approach to the game I think is unique and if he has time to establish his culture it works out. Tampa, NYR and now CBJ all strong teams that gave him time.

With regards to the comments on practice, I think that is my favorite approach from him. He gave a pretty good interview a while back on trying to break the routine and habits of today's players who never step away from the game. Skate all summer, skate on game days, skate on practice days and skate on 'optional' days; philosophically he wanted to force them to recharge mentally so they could give it their all when it matters. There is obviously a fine line between zero practices and practices all the time, but I appreciate his less-is-more approach to the hockey life

Torts will also be out of a job within two years.

I love you, Carol!!

- Marwood

Hartley won the Jack Adams and was gone shortly after..and much like Torts he didn't deserve it either.

Carol is great!

Does Benning mean good news as in not signing him?
- Retinalz

Yeah, what would be good news regarding Miller?

the leagues a franking joke anyways, doing all these favors for LV, allowing that kid to get up there and trash a team, they don't know what offside is or whats a penalty and what isn't, suspensions and non suspensions are a joke, this league has zero credibility in the professional leagues because its run by a bunch of clowns.

To his credit, at least JB isn't one of the MANY teams flipping draftpicks to vegas. Unless it's for Colin Miller, I'd give a pick up for him.

I'd just like to see a 'Benning' type deal happen soon so we can see which whiners in this thread will piss off for a year or two....

I haven't watched the Habs enough to know why he didn't fit in well.

Is he a center or a winger?

I love Gallagher, but we need Galchenyuk more than him. Tanev for Galchenyuk is a fair deal imo, but I don't see the Habs giving up on him unless its another 1c coming back.

I'm getting the impression that they want to try Galchenyuk with Drouin and see if one of them becomes the 1c.

Neither. He had a pretty bad year. He was supposed to be the 1c at the beginning of the season, but he really struggled playing center, so they switched him to wing, but he was just as bad. He's definitely a project but is young enough that there is a lot of upside.

He sucks on the face off. He is a decent 2 nd line winger. Nothing special

I thought the joke was a bit more nuanced.

the kid mentioned having suffered through 10 years of futility.

that isn't the Canucks yet but sounds like a few other clubs in the league.

I do share your frustration with officiating and and how everything plays out with the rule book.

have heard it mentioned that hockey has to be a great game to withstand being screwed up by the nhl, but never say never.

Tanev stays unless he brings us a blue chip prospect who plays center. If Galchenyuk for Tanev is an actual thing? I would do that in a heartbeat.

Galchenyuk is no #1 centerman but can play the 3 spot behind Bo and Sutter after Hank is done. And he can play the wing just as good or better than any of our current left wingers.
