I really like Gaudette and wouldn't trade him. I would gladly throw in 5 or 6 Subban's to move up though
- CanuckDon

Would not be surprised if JB moved Subban at some point, never mentions him when talking about prospects coming up

JB seemed pretty clear he wasn't going to use prospects to move up. So why Guadette or co are out. But don't know how he views Subban.

The fact that he was talking about playmaking centers so much pretty much left it confirmed for me, he went into it quite a bit. Especially when he said he would consider trading down a couple picks for the right deal, that to me is a guy looking at top10 deep at the center position.
- neem55

He was saying how it was all going to come down to what the 4 teams infront of him do.

To me that shows that JB has a few D higher on his board if he can drop down and figure he can still get 1 of the 3 centers they like.
1.Nico
2. Patrick
3. Vilardi
4. Glass
Leaves basically Pettersson who (we assume) left.

1. Patrick
2. Nico
3. Hieskanen
4. Makar

That leaves all 3 centers that JB had mentioned.

Apparently one of the head scouts had him at 1oa
- neem55

It is just so strange that he has never really played against any sort of decent competition. It would have been like if Auston Matthews went back to the USHL. Never played at the world juniors or u18s.

His 8 points in 8 games at the WJAC -19 was great except that a 16 year old Andrei shenikov lead the tournament while Makar was 19.

Why is the NBA draft so messed up?!?

Teams pick players and after that team picks the player. They have traded the player immediately to another team.
Why not allow the team that just traded for the pick get to make the pick. LEss awkward for the player who is wearing the hat for the team that just drafted him and then being told he has already been traded.

You have good points there. Makar is shiny for his rarity and potential. But so are top C and would believe BPA is Glass over Makar if he's there at 5OA.

I didn't "forget" him, he just wasn't mentioned today during the interview but Glass, Pettersson, and Vilardi were talked about. I think the Combine hurt his stock a bit. Not to fall out of the top 10 but not a top 5 consideration.

Well thats a relief, unless of course Benning trades down, which would be such a stupid move

Glass sounds like a pretty good player. Makar is such a wild card

I just stated that in my opinion what I read about one player(Jouki) was better than what I heard about another in Salo. That type of statement doesn't have an objective truth value, so no. No I am not.

I just don't think he cares because he doesn't think he is high priority prospect. No point moving him in my opinion because there likely isn't much of a market. Let the kid keep working on his game in Utica.

Non Tanev trade idea. If the islanders are in a win now mode for Tavares, would they trade Kulemin+Halak (8.7 mill in cap expires next season) and add Barzal+Devon Toews for like Granlund+55?

Thanks funny...although his use of the word "draftist" was not how you labelled yourself.
- Makita

Glad you saw the humor. Though, I haven't labeled myself a draftist and do agree with Nighthawk's use. Things are not black and white either in my view. See my distinctions made in previous page post to Nighthawk. The moderating of the minutia is the distcition that separates what is the actual truth, of how I had presented it, in the past. Wouldn't have brought it up either. Someone else did a couple of times. There are more exciting things to talk about now. Draft day and trades!

It's how it is but the risk reward ratio will get some team to draft Makar high when they throw caution to the wind.

I can't wait til the draft is over so we can get back to criticizing Benning

I think the NBA guy just made a perfect example of what needs to happen to the Canucks.

Starting over means trading your best asset.

1. Glass
2. Heiskaken
3. Trade down pick Necas

I fear Glass will be gone before 5.

it's a win-win...if it's more Virtanens I get to be right, or they draft a future star and I happily eat crow

Same

Would be hyped to add him up front to go along with Boeser/Horvat. All 3 are the type of characters/talents you want to lead the next wave.

What are you going to do if he selects glass or Vilardi (your next pick)?
