Friedman tweeting that the Flames are in on Hamonic...

Better not be around Bennett!

- Clyde334

Ya, better not involved Bennett. We went about 15 years without a legit top line centre and Benny still has the potential to turn into that. Even if he's a solid 2nd or 3rd line C, that worth a lot. I'd rather Tre spend a little cash on a no. 4 Dman and leave Bennett continue to develop. Stone, 5 yrs @ $4 million per would please me.

Hah....if you think Stone = Barrie or Hamonic then you wouldn't understand why I wouldn't mind giving up a good asset like Bennett.

P.S. I don't give 2 poops where he was drafted

- The-O-G

When did barrie get into the equation? He's the polar opposite of Stone/Hamonic.

And our record is great with Stone. Hamonic is just another quiet stay-at-home defenseman. He was -21 last year.

I like the idea of having center depth ...move guys to the wings and if we have injuries you can replace your Centers with nhl guys instead of ahl

I think you trade for a guy like hamonic only when you've decided guys like ras and kylington won't be top 4 guys

- Redmile247

Like I have said before....you can't always WAIT for this stuff to happen. That's why they have scouts/coaches etc.

I am just talking value/quality. I realize they don't play the same game.

I guess i just think that we don't need to sell the farm on adding a D ... we need a #4 guy ...which doesn't cost you Bennett

If you look at the flames from the time they moved chiasson off the top line and added stone they were one of the best teams in the league ...add a #4 guy and let ferland start the year with the top line ...see what happens

Yeah I actually agree with that....I just think Stone is more of a 5-6 guy. Big gap between him and Hamonic or someone similar. Completely changes the defense.

Sure it is but i'd be happy with Too Much rather than having to move a guy like Bennett to get a top 4. As long as Tre doesn't pay Way too much like he did for Brouwer or feister did with Widman. IMO, $4million for Stone is fine.

All these "Give up on Bennett because he hasn't blossomed immediately" posts remind me of the old "Give up on Backlund because he hasn't blossomed immediately" posts we were inundated with on here 3,4,and 5 years ago.

Bennett had pretty damned good growth last year on his 200 ft game. He developed his penalty killing skills, and improved his faceoff success.

Centers simply take more time to develop. McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Monahan, Schieffle and such are the exception, not the rule.

If Janko surpasses him at Center, Sam would make a fantastic left winger for him, while retaining a player who can play Center in a pinch.

It also doesn't hurt that he hasn't flown out of the gates ripping up the league for the team as he now must sign a bridge or show me deal.

To me the interesting one would be Backlund.

I guess everyone in here would be ok with it considering bennett is so poop hot

- The-O-G

God damn you OG. Lets see what the guy can actually do before we trade him. We got pretty spoiled with SM and JG. Some guys need more time. I think Bennett is the future C of tve Flames. SM is a pretty quiet guy. Bennet is much more vocal.

I'd like to bring stone back to be your planned 4 guy ...and if one of the kids can make the jump and be effective with Brodie and bump stone to 3rd pairing than your laughing

Imo it was less about having stone and more about not having Wideman with Brodie

Same with chiasson in the top line ...ferland fit well but I think it was more not having chiasson killing every play

In the preseason I'd be open to the flames trying some random line combos ...Bennett or janko on the top line ...split up the 3M line ...you can go back to the usual line combos once the season starts but it's nice to see other options

You can't put all those centers in the same category ...you have a good arguenent but doing that takes away from it and makes you look foolish

I really just don't think trading Bennett is giving up on him. Just shifting assets. He's still very valuable. Does nobody else see it this way?

I see where you are going. He is worth a lot and so far not in the top 6. But its damn early to figure out what he is really worth. Could be more than what you are selling for.
