If we didn't move out Grabovski's salary we would be real tight against the cap and have a tough time adding any significant player/salary. The cap space is a huge gain. - eichiefs9
Chiefs what about LTIR?
I mean if we needed the relief wasn't it there to use? Or am I missing something?

Just going by this Vegas move, it was not a good deal. Lots of pressure on Garth to make a couple of bigger moves. You have to worry about other teams thinking they have Garth in a tough spot. I hope everything works out and we have an impact move tomorrow. Rather not have to wait for Saturday. - ses111
He's desperate and everyone knows it. He created that desperation through inaction for years and unfortunately every GM will most likely exploit it. |

This is the worry if Garth does not have these deals finalized. I know this #1 is not a lottery pick, but I feel better giving up the #1 in a trade for someone like Duchene. I hope not having the #1 any longer will not hurt. |

I'm only responding to the bold:
I really hate this argument. You've seen the drop off in success in the later rounds. This exact reasoning is why a lot of people give away money playing lotto. - JimmyP
But my point is you can't say draft choices aren't worth anything. A first round pick can be a bust and a 6/7th round pick can become a world class pick and visa versa.
No one knows so a draft pick isn't worthless whether it's a 1st or a 7th, they are still assets that can be used and can become players or busts. Either way without them there is no future for any club. |

I think Garth knows what the other teams want he's been working on this for weeks. Now he has to finish it so there's that. Maybe avs want strome and dehaan who knows |

Not that I care, but Sakic will get hammered if he gives up Duchene for Strome and de Haan. I'm going to have to see this deal a 100 times before I believe it. |

I mean maybe what they gave up tonight is part of tomorrow's deal I mean I guess they would just say it then though. I'm hoping we hear something right away as it was said a lot of trades are on hold at the central office. Probably have to wait longer but if it doesn't happen by sat then most likely it's not going to - Upstate_isles
Tomorrow after the freeze is over at 8am, Vegas can trade anyone from tonight |

Yup. Trust me I've questioned him on it and he keeps telling me it's a done deal with JT. I'm with you in saying I'll believe it when I see it BUT everything he told me before has been true. Let's hope his streak continues lol - Joey1724
I would like to believe him too, but with the Islanders coming out saying they are willing to wait for JT to sign even after the start of the season, I would tend to think he's wrong.
But I will give you the benefit of the doubt until July 1st |

Yes, every draft pick has value. However they drop off pretty quickly.
We've been saying for years that Snow needs to do something. It looks like he's finally trying. Let's see how it plays out. I'm not optimistic, but we can't judge until we see the final product. |

A few years ago... people on here hated collecting draft picks and building from the bottom up.
They are now in a position to go all in.
Use the draft picks and some prospects to create a team to compete.
All in... hopefully.
This maybe the biggest and most important time for Garth ever.
He is likely gone in a year... so better make it count.
He needs this team to go deep into the playoffs. |

Of course it is but it seems like a little bit higher of a price. Hopefully it's not a preview of what we'll be paying in the next trade. You can minimize it all you want Snow isn't worried about a 2nd round pick in 2019 bcs I can guarantee he won't be here but I am. - Cptmjl
Yeah it's slightly on the high side but there was nothing of real value lost and the cap space is critical to being able to really improve the team dramatically. |

It crazy out there, now I'm hearing TH and Strome pieces for Duchene.
God I will be relieved when this is over I hope! |

Let's hope this ends at around 8:00am. I'm really tired of the Duchene rumors. |

Why bother? Minds are made up. Snow was bashed for years for hoarding picks now it's a travesty that he traded a couple of picks. They can add two studs before the season and people will still kill the deal even though that deal was the reason they were able to land those forwards |

If your in a position to add pieces to put you over the top and truely contend I 100% agree. Tough to win the Cup.
Is your Rookie head coach and staff good enough to win it all? This players can't change. Just throwing that out there.
Is Snow the guy to make the final moves to make this happen? Figured I would throw that out there too |

After 11 years of Garth Snow, no normal Isles fans exist. |
