No, but it's only a little higher than the going rate. Snow needed to clear cap space and he did, now it's on him to add major pieces.

Gonna be the key to how all this plays out. He could come out of this looking very good

Ok berube, who cares and bischoff, ditto as for pics I'm fine with that too as it kept our trade chips and gave us space. If they ever land duchene and eberle no one will give a poop when they score 5 per game, jt Lee, eberle, barzal, ho sang, Ladd, Duchene mean that's sick. Yes some may be moved

If your happy with whats gone down. God Bless ya.

Until I see Snowball actually improve this team.

He'll get no respect from me.

You can pat him on the back all you like and speculate (as fans have 4 ever) that he's brewing some blockbuster deal. But until that day comes.

I'll continue to laugh at this 1/2 A$$ GM.

- SCLI

Nobody is patting him on the back, I'm just not about to make a mountain out of a mole hill. He overpaid a little, yes. If you're that worried about a 2nd round pick in two years or Jake Bischoff, who is probably 2-3 years away, then I can't help you.

Maybe it's time to give up if you think losing a couple picks and a prospect that figures to be a depth defenseman is some sort of travesty. jesus tap-dancing christ.

Wait, do people care that Berube was the one selected? The 1st round pick? I don't really get it I guess.

A lot of ifs right there, but I agree we'll have to let it play out before making a final judgement.

We thought it was only a first and now it's 1st, 2nd, prospect bad but a prospect none the less and JF Berube. I would say steeper than what was expected or leaked the last couple days.
- nyisles7

1) Berube is no asset
2) You forget to mention -5M in cap space.
3) You would have lost a player equal to a 15th pick for sure. Would you rather have the 15th pick than a player like Bailey or Strome (Or Pulock if 7-3)? No way that pick will be worth more than any of those guys.

There is still free agency.

I used to be Hamonic's biggest protector but with how often he's hurt and his whole trade request, I'm kinda indifferent at this point. They need to do whatever it takes to keep 91 here.

- potvin05

Not much in terms of UFA's and Isles have trouble signing guys. Now if they add Duchene that will make them more attractive. I'm fine with moving Hamonic.

only sh1! heads like chief give headalot continue to argue that the isles moves are always right. they are always smart and well thought out, and somehow, someway the team underachieves, over and over and over and over again. stop settling for mediocrity! you will feel much better when you admit that jt is a bust compared to most nhl studs in the league. is he going to do anything in the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs.....................................no because he is turtle slow already and will be worn out and even more of a waste then. he is going to be a sled hockey champion some day.............but for now..............just a damn shame he was the best available when we had the chance to pick first. The brutality was how the 3-headed monster in net hurt the team last season. That's over. If they can get Halak back on track there is a solid tandem and the team lost nothing but a bad contract. If Duchene is wearing an Islanders jersey next year and so is Hamonic, yeah, I said it; then it's all good! If Eberle happens our way, I wouldn't throw dirt at him either. We gave up a 1st round pick this year; get over it! Garth has this off season to prove himself. Period.

Tampa gave up a stud Russian prospect but I don't see anyone making a huge deal out of that.

I think the cap space is what's important here, maybe they didn't have enough to make the moves before. Seriously the over reactions on here are ridiculous from a few. I hope he makes some great trades and you all disappear. I equate this to the idiots that yell shoot on a powerplay when a team is trying to get the goalie moving and then cheer when the team scores. Ok the isles players does need to shoot

No, Tampa gave Vegas Nikita Gusev, 2017 2nd and a 2018 4th.

He's under contract in Russia but he just put up 24g, 71pts in 57gp. Risk of never coming over, but is really, really good.

1) his rights can be traded for a draft choice, so yes he is.
2) don't need to mention it, we have been discussing Grabo going for a first the last couple days on here.
3) Bailey, Strome, Bahahahaha please go away!
4) see below

At this point you're looking at Hamonic and a mid-round pick (3rd or 4th) for Eberle.

Nelson or Strome, Bailey, Pelech or Mayfield and a future 1st for Duchene and a late round pick.

I say enough with drafting. Get these 2 guys here, roll 4 lines, give 91 and 27 someone who can score, see what Barzal (still got Del Colle too) has...let's roll.

Based on what's been reported it seems more likely that Strome might go for Eberle.

Hamonic would probably be part of a Duchene or Galchenyuk deal. TSN guys were saying that Snow's price for Hamonic was very high.
