No, it was expected that they were gonna take him.

Every team needs a big, slow-footed defenseman that can't pass.

The pick was to take JF Berube and Grabovski. The "protection" was, inherently, for everyone not named Berube and Grabovski.

Don't forget Bischoff.

Really my point was that they weren't "protecting" specific players as much as they were directing VGK on who to take. Obviously the protection of "everyone who wasn't the guys they took" is a byproduct of that.

did anyone else's jaw drop when Knights took Griffin Reinhardt from EDM? Am i missing something here. Isnt this the same player that couldnt crack the islanders or edm lineup?

Hopefully it works out for both sides...

Can't get a fresher start than an expansion draft.

I know. Just busting balls. I have no problem with the moves last night. Just waiting to see what transpires over the next few days. No expectations, but hopefully Snow will bring in some higher end talent.

You really have to wonder about Juniors if Reinhart has struggled this badly.

Flames on lookout for top-4 D... believe they've looked into Hamonic, Methot, among others; also still trying to re-sign M. Stone...

Soon we will hear we must wait for free agency before we see any deals. Before it was the Expansion draft was holding everything up.

Arthur Staple

@StapeNewsday
Currently making my way to Chicago and the whole league's been quiet. Guess we'll have to wait for the dam to break.

Who would you want from the Flames that is considered available?

Detroit traded the 16th and Datsyuk's contract for the 20th and 53rd and a prospect.

Listen contrary to popular belief I'm not freaking out. Just calling it as I see it BUT the trade you're using as an example makes Snow's look worse. Much worse

- Cptmjl

Which is what I said last night.
Also looking at CBJ's dumping Clarkson for less, it was an over payment. Not freaking out but Snow paid more than anyone else to dump Grabo's salary and he could have use LTIR. I did see Staple Tweet to protect Garth ass that LTIR is hard and not that easy. I agree Staple, maybe for Snow.

The NBA already has had a couple of trades ahead of their draft. The NHL saving these deals for the draft will not help them overtake the other sports.

I know the argument is the #1 was used to prevent some players being taken. It was still a little steep and it's concerning we do not have any Isles trades done yet.
