So we keep Ullmark which I'm happy about but we lose a cheap, well rounded young player who was fast and stuck up for his teammates. Look at the bright side though - Now Matt Moulson can play 2nd line minutes when we trade Kane and lose Carrier on the left wing!

Hooray we kept an AHL goalie and lost a young cheap fast forward.

It doesn't have to be either/or. The team isn't in cap hell right now. This team needs better defensemen to be a playoff team, and they have the room to do it, albeit on short term deals, even with Bogosian, Gorges, and Moulson on the roster. I am not upset at losing Carrier at all.
- buffalofan19

I'm not as pissed as I would've been with losing Ullmark but with the likely trade of Kane we're (frank)ed at not only LW but scoring wingers.

You've got a log jam currently of gritty 3rd/4th line players and over the hill injury prone or slow has beens

Should never be near the top six - Foligno, Girgensons, Larsson, Desluaries
Has beens who are either slow or injury prone - Moulson, Ennis

Leaves us with...

Eichel Okposo
O'Rielly Reinhart

That's two MAJOR wholes on the left wing in the top six that no player mentioned above should have anything to do with and I don't think Nylander is ready for that role yet either.

Carrier, if he is the guy that is indeed picked, can easily be replaced.
- buffalofan19

I would have liked to keep Carrier as well but I prefer Vegas taking him over Ulmark. Plus guys like Carrier are a dime a dozen. 4th (maybe 3rd) liners.

The disappointing news is that it now seems like we will be stuck with at least - and possibly all 4 of - Bogo, Ennis, Moulson and Gorges.

Yeah because we're so deep at LW and there's tons of under 25 speedy LW's for under 2 mill that can be had that have scoring ability and grit.
- bluengold12

Um... no he didn't
Not much

4th liner dude
He'll never score 15g in a season
No big loss

Nylander can play LW & Bailey got moved to LW last year as well

Ullmark has potential to be better than that statue Lehner.

We should've protected Ullmark and Carrier and left Ennis and Lehner open. Doubt they would've picked either one.

This was pretty obvious. What will be more interesting is tomorrow at 8am when a list of trades is announced. LV drafted a lot of dmen and who around here could use a stud dman?

It sounds like this new regime still likes Tyler Ennis for whatever reason. I don't see it, but I'm not upset they feel that way.

It was a long shot we'd get rid of any of them
But...
Gorges gone after this year
Ennis has potential to bounce back
Maybe Housley can get Bogosian straightened out
Moulson for 2 more years isn't the worst ever... 4th line, PP2

Probably because they haven't experienced first hand how different of a player he is now that the concussions ruined him or the fact that he's injury prone

Carrier had more potential then those other bums. He was still young enough. If he maxes out his potential he could be a 2nd line 3rd line tweener. Don't see any hope for the others on the list.

Idk how many times I've said it, we couldn't have protected Ullmark, since lehner didn't have a contract. I mentioned a few days before the protection list were due, it would have been smart to give Lehner a 2 year 10 million dollar contract. It would have forced Vegas to take a big contract or an UFA. Ullmark is one of the worst goalies I've seen when it comes to positioning. People in buffalo always fall in love with the back up goalie.

Forgot that about Lehner. So Lehner (frank)ed us over with being difficult in contract negotiations. At least Ullmark can stop a man at point blank range. Lehner is the worst goalie I've ever seen at uncontested shots and breakaways. It's borderline pathetic how still he stands.

Carrier scored 73 goals in 227 games in the Q, and 23 goals in 127 games in the AHL, he's not exactly prolific

This just reads as bitterness because our prospect isnt signing with us.

This loyalty thing is blown way out of proportion. These teams screw players and prospects over as "part of the business" all the time and fans dont say poop. A college FA exercises his right to pick where he thinks the best fit for him is and now hes not showing loyalty? please.

oh and how much work is really put in drafting them. they go up on a stage and call their name and then 90% of their development happens in college.

- Sabresfan-365

Yeah, and that's only if he doesn't sign here, if he does he's a great guy. lol

It's an easy fix. No professional hockey for a year if they don't sign. And then make them sign a 3 year ELC after the fact no matter how old they are. Pretty big disincentive to sign with the team that drafted you.

I don't blame the kids for wanting to do what's best for themselves. I blame the poop rule.

And I've stated many times that I don't really care if he signs here or not.

I would absolutely rather have Foligno, Girgensons, and Larsson. I'd also rather have Bailey, Baptiste, Rodrigues, this isn't the end of the world

I said yesterday that Kane wants to stay and they are looking to meet in July with him to gauge interest from both sides.

Not really
He's a 4th liner, 3rd at best (on a crappy team)
You're overreacting

We had to lose someone & he's no big loss
