I'm not suprised by Gigens and Foligno. Girgs was productive before Byslma. And Foligno is coming off probably his best full year and finally looks to have put it all together.

Ennis is a bit surprising. Larsson is a bit odd in the way that if you were planning on protecting Girgensons, then Larsson is expendable. I think it's pretty obvious that at the end of the day, there's really only room for 1 of them here. If I had to choose, it would be Girgensons that I'd keep. He's a bit younger, faster, and to me has more offensive upside than Larsson.

- HonkFortheGoose

I think that instead of losing one of Girgensons or Larsson for free... they keep them both and deal one at the deadline for a 3-5th round pick or something if we need to or can be paired in a bigger deal. They have a TON more trade value than Carrier.

I'd be shocked if their convo lasted longer than 5 minutes. I'm sure that a depth goalie and a bottom 6 guy were at the low end of fruit that McPhee wanted to spend time on.

McPhee: Hey Botteril, I think we like Ullmark.
Botteril: Could I persuade you not to take him if I give you a 6th w/ Carrier?
McPhee: Yea, I can get some other guy like Berube in a bigger deal.
Botteril: Cheerio

(Yea. I think Botteril is a smartass)

- JVince11

yeah right, his mom still tells him when to go to bed.

BTW I already made a transcript of the convo. It's more real than yours.

It's going to be pretty cool watching defenders who can skate.

Risto and McCabe are sad over this message.

I believe so. So they're already addressing it.

You might be right with the bolded.

And somehow, the italicized did sway him.

Can't have it both ways. Either McPhee really didn't care which one he took, so the 6th rounder did sway him, or he wanted Ullmark, and the 6th rounder swayed him. So what is your point, and how do you feel about Claude Giroux's stats and quality of play declining at such a rapid rate while paying him 9 mil a year to be the best chirper in the league?

- SDSabre

Carrier to me is going to be like so many of the names from the last expansion draft. 10 years from now, Vegas fans are gonna look at the list and go "who?"

I think Larsson will be the odd man out, unless they bring gionta back for 1 year

I thought they could groom him to be a paille

decent pk fixture on the 4th line

- homiedclown

I think he'll make a wonderful 4th liner, maybe even 3rd. He plays a nice game, if he can get himself 25-30 pts a season and become a great PK guy, who wouldn't want him on the roster?

We have the 3rd most cap space in hockey. We gave up a ton to get Bogo/Kane. I want to see Bogo play in Housley's system before anything like that. If he can play consistently... he will be a perfect 2nd pairing guy IMO.

Besides... Moulson is much more likely to get bought out than Bogo.

I said the other day that Girgensons could be one of the more interesting stories this year with the coaching change. It's no secret him and Bylsma didn't seem to mesh well.

Unfortunately, I think Larsson's stock is pretty low right now coming off that pretty gruesome arm injury. I'm assuming he's going to be healthy at the start of camp, but other than being told he was done for the year, we haven't heard anything in terms of his health or a timeline (that I remember anyway).

I feel like next year is the year of the BO. One of Moulson or Bogo. you'll get a lot of savings from both.. And you'll need it. This year, it's just not necessary.

Larsson coming back off a torn ACL don't forget.

I think they want a different 3C than Zemgus.

My random thought is maybe Girgs is kept for trade value, and Larsson is there to replace. Maybe Girgs is included in a defense trade?

Risto and McCabe aren't bad skaters, they're just not top end skaters either.

Part of why I was so mad when Pysyk was moved. But you know, he was good enough for Florida to protect...

If we could replace Gorges with Girardi, that could be pretty good.

So McPhee and Botterill had 0 conversations, and Botterill was like, yo George, here's a 6th, don't touch a goalie!

Go back to Garth's cesspool, guy.

- TheSabresTaco

is that what I said? you have nothing, guy.

I get the whole "see what Bogo can do with Housley as a coach" but I don't see how Housley being his coach is going to change the fact that he's pretty much made of glass.

Not a torn ACL. It was a wrist/elbow injury.

Plus according to Paul Hamilton, take it for what it's worth, Bogo tunes out if you don't do what he wants. I don't know how much Housley will bend to put Bogo in whatever he deems is best for him. Housley is much smarter and would likely know better.
