For all the Carrier lovers out there, how would you feel if Botterill had given Vegas a second rounder to take Ulmark or one of our other plugs like Falk? Or how about a 1st rounder to Vegas to take Moulson off our hands? I am glad Botterill didn't pay a ransom to protect Carrier or to trade away Moulson's contract. I would rather have Moulson scoring 14 goals a year for the next two years on the 4th line and PP vs giving up a 1st.

While disappointed that Carrier is gone, I think he is definitively replaceable.

- SabreWest

During the first 9 picks coming up, the Sabres are included in those picks.

No I'm upset with the fact that Botteril couldn't do a deal to get rid of Moulson or BADgosian and now once we trade Kane by next week we'll have zero players to play top six LW so we'll likely have a combo of a vet we overpay for and Ennis and Moulson there and poor Eichel will see the 2nd longest active NHL playoff drought go another year.

You're overreacting
There's plenty of time before the season starts dude

And giving up a 1st to get rid of Moulson or Bogo would've been stupid

Carrier looked good there at least, he gave effort and speed. All Foligno and Girgensons did was miss wide open nets that the face of your franchise set them up with? My point is mainly about the glearing lack of LW depth now that could actually play in the top six and if we trade Kane which I'm expecting us to do we have no one there with the exception of concussion bound Ennis and at best he's a 2nd line LW. That's if he finds a way to regain his form from 7 years ago...
- bluengold12

That only gets you so far. I like the guy, but I'd rather have Ullmark, but if he got selected it's also no big loss. We're not losing a good player and we're not paying an absurd price to stay away from a good player. I'm fine with it.

It's not but goalies seem to fluctuate every year.

There's about 5 that are consistently really good. Lehner isn't there yet.

2-3 years ago, Dubnyk was bouncing around, now he's excellent.

Quick was a Vezina caliber goalie, now is incredibly average and can't stay healthy

Give him a 1 year

I think term is a problem with all positions right now. I remember before the full lockout season, almost all contacts were between 1 and 3 years.

They really still haven't released the official lists yet?

They acted like they were going to release them before the awards

It might have something to do with the sabres only scoring 1 shootout goal. A little more pressure is adding to every attempt you face when you know your team doesn't score any.
- Mentalorgasm5

I thought about that as a possibility for last year, both because of the pressure you mentioned and because shootout practice probably is pretty useless when all the players on your team apparently suck at the shootout. The injury could've been an issue the previous year. It could be the goalie coach, too.

Regardless of the reason, looking at his whole career in the shootout, I don't believe Lehner is incapable of doing well in the shootout. At the same time, he has not been good (understatement alert) in the shootout as a Sabre, and they do need to sort that out if he's sticking around.

Idk, with the cap increases, 5 million for a goalie really isn't that crazy. I don't like paying goalies either. I hated Miller's contract, but he got that when the cap was high 40s-low 50s.

When I first heard he wants 5 million, I wanted him gone, until I researched what goalies make. I don't know if 5 million for a goalie is the end of the world these days.

- Mentalorgasm5

Let's go team by team...

Better goalies then Lehner....

Chicago, Blue Jackets, Blues, Senators, Kings, Bruins, Rangers, Penguins, Sharks, Predators, Canadians, Golden Knights, Capitals

Probably better... New Jersey, Edmonton, Dallas, Lightning, Leafs, Wild, Ducks
Might be better Winnipeg, Calgary,

That's 20 likely better goalies than Lehner if we take a few out from the probably better list it's still 16 or 17 better.

No biggie on the 6th. I guess they really wanted to keep Ulmark.

well it also lets them keep guys like girgs and foligno who could probably see their value rise and turned into 2nd/3rd round picks

The GM said there were TWO players who they were interested in. Who would have been the other?

Edit: nvm. Carrier was the second.

If a 6th round pick changed his mind he must not have been super interested
