When the argument is Sbisa or Gaunce. Yes we need better changes. Anything from the Kesler trade is gone. As are lots of moves management has made. This team and its state are now squarely planted on Jim Bennings shoulders. He needs to make a splash before the season starts. I doubt it though. I think he will be done after the season.

Personally, I don't care what the team does, we're never going to be able to truly compete until Edmonton, Calgary and Phoenix trend down. So having Miller and the twins while slowly rebuilding the prospect pool isn't going to hurt us much. I don't see us being able to compete for at least 7-8 years so why worry about 3 players who will retire long before then. It's not like at this point they'll be eating up the amount of cap they have now and not like the cap won't increase to more than make up for it.

Well you can do one move at a time and wait the eight years to draft one player a year or you can do a couple of moves a year and speed things up.

Nice seems to be the operative word. They will get decent players but I am not sure about outstanding players.

they clearly couldve chosen a better team. McPhee's strategy isnt to have a great team right outta the gate. Everything i've heard and read suggested that he wants to suck for a few years and keep building through the draft

30 goal young prospect or old retiring goalie?

I dunno if you can call a 27 year old a prospect

The thing that became apparent to me over the last few days is how far we have fallen. Our roster is so bad we became an afterthought to Vegas about what player they wanted.

We have taken over as the butt end of criticism and the over all image of this franchise is somewhat embarrassing.

We do have some pieces like Bo Boeser OJ but how do they rank ?

It does anger me to see them keep resorting back to things they are familiar with Like Miller , or if they extend the twins .

I would like to see Glass taken this year and for Benning to do whatever he has to do to get another top ten pick to get Pettersson . Fix the Center issue this year and next year move to fixing the D

- VANTEL

I am the opposite. The common phrase around hockey is to build from the net out. Demko is still another year or two away from cracking the NHL roster, and another few years before taking starter role and excelling. D are the next longest developing position, usually not starting to make an impact until 22ish but could be longer. Top Centers (which are sorely needed in VAN) can take anywhere between 0-3 years to hit their strides

they don't own all 4, they traded the 24th for the 15th I believe to WPG. WPG traded their 15th overall for the 24th overall so that Ehnstrom wasn't chosen. Vegas hold 3 picks in the 1st round.

13th not 15th but otherwise you're correct. I think NYI and WPG were brutal trades, there really wasn't anyone on those unprotected lists that couldn't be covered by a prospect or that 1st round pick that they gave up. To give up a first round pick to protect "depth" is really dumb.

Now that I have looked at it closer. NYI paid a high price, but they also protected some pretty decent forwards, and offloaded a 5 million dollar contract in Grabovski. I think it was a decent move, they just paid a sh*t ton to do it. WPG essentially paid 11 spots in the 1st round to protect Ehnstrom and Dano, I am not sure either are worth that.

I thought the same of the CBJ deal. Karlsson is decent IMO but the draft picks saved them nearly $16m still owed to Clarkson. High price to take that off their books

Good to know, I guess this means the Canucks will have at least one decent player (other than Horvat) to look forward to next year.

Yeah NYI had a lot more to lose. Understandable to get rid of Grabs contract to go after Eberle or Duchene. SO I understand the move.

Enstrom and Dano combined wouldn't be worth the 13OA in this draft. They aren't even in cap trouble.

I think Van should see if they could get Petan for a their 4th.

Yes, 100 percent want them to start drafting some more forwards, everybody knows that they take years longer to develop. When they start hitting 24 or 25, that's when we should focus on D. Then when the forwards hit their prime at 27, the defensemen will be hitting their prime of 21.

# Edmonton model

I also love the fact that Edmonton lost Reinhardt after paying such a heavy price for him.

I expect Carolina to be quit active this off-season. They have some nice defense and a decent prospect pool...Duchene will end a there soon.
