«What appears likely is that the Knights will be fairly well off on Defence. With the likes of Sami Vatanen, Matt Dumba, Jack Johnson, Brooks Orpik, Trevor Van Riemsdyk, Calvin De Haan, Michael Stone, Xavier Ouellet, Klas Dahlbeck, and Slater Koekkoek available it would be difficult to see Vegas plucking a defender off the Canadiens so.... maybe Beaulieu could have stayed? I digress».

You have to consider side deals. A guy like Vatanen is not really available. And the rumor is that many deals were made by Vegas.

- deadpoulet

Totally agree, but until those deals aren't announced I had to presume they were available to the knights.

going out on a limb here but it could be that it makes no sense.

A) obviously he has some value if Buffalo dealt a pick for him and protected him
B) why was he on his way out regardless? why get rid of him to get rid of him? to make room for all of those up and coming smooth-skating defencemen from the AHL? this team has nothing coming. nothing.

I think the fact it's been done before the expansion draft tells us that there is definitely an NHL defenseman being traded to the Habs very soon. Bergevin surely would have preferred a 2nd round pick, but it's a Buffalo 3rd round pick, not tooooo bad.

he was traded not for is play on the ice but his 'performances' off the ice. same reason why is was a healthy scratch for game 6.

too much smoke....he is the main asset to go after a top 6 center....as long as they get a top 6 winger on the UFA market

for a year or 2 yes. if they sign a long term contract, which I doubt, it will be closer to 6M imo

I don't think they need another LW. I'm pretty sure they would have to make a trade with the Devils who owns his rights.

I would tend to agree, Radulov is not coming back. But it's just a gut feeling.

I don't know if they have the assets to get both a top 6 center and top 4 d in trades. They do have a few draft picks.

I like a longer term rather than shorter, but is galchenyuk going to be worth 6 mill per? I almost think you have to give him a year or two "prove it" deal and roll the dice on whether or not he gets to take you to the bank after it expires.

If Drouin ends up at C it would be interesting to see Chucky on his wing for a full year.
