That said, I read an interesting theory this morning :
Habs god rid of Emelin for free by trading Beaulieu.
If Beaulieu was unprotected LV takes him (and has to keep Emelin)
If Beaulieu was protected, LV takes Benn (and has to keep Emelin)

There are a few people who seemed surprise Montreal didn't need to add to convince vegas to take him.
This being said the choice was him, Plekanec or Hudon... why the hell would Montreal pay to absolutely keep one of these guys? |

MTL obviously has to get busy. Need D or two, C or two, and it sure sounds like Galchenyuk is likely to be on the move at some point.

could be. still don't think Benn over Beaulieu makes sense. and if i hear one more time about his influence on Galchenyuk i will shoot someone. but anyway you've now lost 2 top-6 defencemen from last year. hopefully there's a plan to use that $$ because they need some bodies back there. |

(frank).
Why can't I imagine a scenario where trading Galchenyuk ends up being a good thing?
I'll try....
Galchenyuk to Calgary for Dougie Hamilton!

i never understood the Emelin hate. he's a solid player when put in the right role. if he stays in Vegas he'll give them a decent 17 minutes/night and bring in a second rounder at the deadline. |

I agree. Sure he was overpaid a little but he's not a guy I was worrying too much about if put in the right role (being on the first pair with Weber exposed him way too much).
Still at the end of the day, I think what he brings can be replaced by another for less money. |

Benn over Beaulieu is probably more of a contract + attitude thing... |

Habs didn't lose much in Beaulieu.
If they did, they would have gotten more than a 3rd rounder. Habs stopped believing in his "potential" and so did most of the league it seems. |
