I'm really OK with Emelin leaving but with him and Beaulieu gone, our left side will need some help.

- Scabeh

Price is getting some extra equipment padding added to his left side as we speak.

I had this conversation the other night. Might as well trade our picks because we can't develop. And if we are "ALL IN" right now.........makes no difference in the short term. At this rate we'll be rebuilding in 4 years tops. MB needs to show Price that he's willing to build something that can contend??

i think they should just draft nothing but centres over 6 feet tall for the next 3 years

bound to hit on one of them

Of course Markov will re-up with the Habs.

Last week Habs were missing a LD to play with Weber, assuming Markov plays on the 2nd paring and one of Emelin, Beaulieu, Davidson or Jerabek play on the 3rd pair.

as of today, Habs are still missing a LD to play with Weber.

No big deal.

En théorie ça libère du $$ pour ajouter ce fameux défenseur. Reste à voir qui est disponible sur le marché et qui est le meilleur fit.

I'm trying not to get ahead of myself with how the available cap space will be utilized, but in that respect, we're in good shape. As long as MB does't start overpaying ie. Emelin, Pleks, DD, Eller etc.

I know, but to say it creates a hole on the left side... not really.
The hole was already there, just to the left of Weber.

my guess is they couldn't agree on a price to take Plekanec.

Vegas wanted a 3rd round pick and Bergevin was insisting on a 2nd.

Some guy playing in the KHL we signed that has similar stats to Zaitsev who started in Toronto last year.

Supposedly a decent player.

I think the deal for Drouin was fair but he usually overpay his players. Markov won't take a huge paycut (if any), so it's already 5 millions there. Remain to be seen what Galchenyuk and maybe Radulov will get.

I was surprised at the Drouin deal actually. I thought it was a really decent deal. Good term and AAV for a young player of his talent. Still shaking my head over the Shaw deal tho............

Bah! ... who needs centers anyway ... we've had so much success since the 90's without a genuine #1.

Crazy to me that Vegas is taking Emelin. I wonder if Bergeron paid them to take him

A lot of us pointed out that he was a UFA next summer and that's the players that you see being dealt for draft picks at the deadline.

Not really, he is the one who will bring them the best return. Plek makes too much $$.

I agree but with the official list of available D, there's no reason to take him, imo. This eside deals must have been great for them to take emelin at the end.
