Of course it's not the same as trading a contract of a guy you signed for 7yrs amd traded the next season due to financial reasons. Then failing Clarkson's physical at the beginning of the season this past year

Talk about tap dancer around the cap

Totally agree, like I said to the poster who assumed I thought it was all "fake", certain ailments are somewhat subjective and cannot be proven or refuted, and all can have some element of truth to them (I would assume that any NHL player over the age of 25 could get diagnosed with having a bad back/knee or something like that.)
Don't know why anyone is surprised, the feeling since day 1 is that he would not play out the entire contract, and that day has arrived.

yes...may posters have talked about this...but smells of a lack of integrity if this is bogus...surprised hossa would be a part of it...

he certainly looked fine all of last year

From what I've read, this isn't so much about the skin condition as it is about the medicine used to treat the skin condition.

You can only get so many cortisone and steroid shots before they adversely affect you.

So, he may not have the rash right now, but when the workouts start, they immediately come back. But docs don't want to administer more meds.

JJ,

How does the timing of this come into play? Has the FO been acting under the assumption that they knew this was coming?

Yes, because you could totally see any damage caused to his heart from the corticosteroids or his skin rash under his gear, or whatever other adverse effects from meds he was taking. He was getting weekly blood tests. It's not just a made up condition.

I never said Kane would be prosecuted. I said the choice would be that of the DA, not of the alleged victim. And you are proving that it needed to be said, since you still don't understand the difference.

Of course, you also quote something where I specifically say "This is possible but unlikely" and imply I expect it to happen. I highly recommend working on your reading comprehension.

- Antilles

Were you a Lawyer during this time period? Of course, it is the DA who decides, based on the strength of the Accuser's evidence. Victim is never used. As there was NO EVIDENCE of any kind, other than that the Complainant and her family and friends were morons, the DA did not move forward. End of Law Lesson.

No justifications needed. Doctors say the risk to his well being is enough to stop.

Justifications of what? Let's say this is a straight up cheating attempt by the team to gain cap space. At the end of the day this hurts the team they can put on the ice. The team with Hossa and his cap hit would be better than the one without either. If I'm a fan of another team for that reason I would be happy. Not pissed that somebody "circumvented" the almighty salary cap.

When did the Oiler trade for Crosby?
- Jance

Someone cue up the troll flowchart, please. This is a miserable day for most Hawks fans. When you've won three cups recently, the fans of the loser teams are going to come out in droves to celebrate that misery.

Go hit the bong. You're either too high or not high enough if you dont think the NHL wanted the next Generational Canadian player in Edmonton over Buffalo. There's a reason that the NHL has pre-selected card stock for the lottery and not an actual lottery ball random selection on live TV.

Agree and to Not to mention

If your Hossa you're

-Richer than God
-Possess a fulfilled personal life
-Three time Stanley Cup Champion
-Hall of Fame Lock
-Thirty Eight years old

To all this I would ask
Why would an Elite Athlite that clings to his health risk playing in this League of Twenty Year Olds?

Dudes got a family. If taking meds to play a game is gonna mess with your long term health, don't take the meds.

Naw I don't need to cry. I have the best player in the world to watch night after night
- Ihatebrianburke

I guess having the best player in the world is worth something. Edmonton could be like the Chicago Bulls. Chicago enjoyed watching Michael Jordan for a few years before they won anything.

where are reports of this skin rash and heart issues...

hawks desperately need cap space
hossa enters a phase of his contract where he makes 1 mildo with 5 mil cap hit
right before the draft and FA period...low and behold he has LTIR retirement situation
he had been quoted at the end of the season that he felt great and wanted to continue to play...

ok 2 plus 2 does not equal 4...

What season did the Hawks NOT need cap space?

https://www.nhl.com/black...-marian-hossa/c-290029810

Bottom line is the team is likely not better without Hossa than with him.

JJ reported a while ago that McPhee likes a certain Marcus Kruger and tried to trade for him back in 2012 IIRC
RHD (TVR) are at a premium right now, TVR probably has some "major" trade value, compared with the way most of the posters this past year have viewed him

It's almost common knowledge that Kruger/TVR are probably going to Vegas

But I think the return might be a little better than we're all expecting from a "salary dump" - maybe the "best GM in the world" (Stan) managed to get a decent asset back (good backup goalie + gritty depth forward) that Vegas might have excess of after drafting 30 players. Sure we might have to "sweeten" with a mid round draft pick, but we had to get rid of salary anyway

Just a thought
