The goaltending will be the undoing. Neuvirth is no starter. It should be Stolarz playing 20 and Mason 60. I also don't want to hold my breath and say Provorov will have such a dominant season again. He may, but he's still a kid and a bit of a 2nd year struggle wouldn't be out of the question imo.

Morin and Hagg need to play opening night. I want Sanheim or Myers by mid season. I hope they make the playoffs, but it's time to let the kids play and give them some good minutes.

Damn it, Nutter...it's only June, but the draft is just two days away.

You needed, what, 95 points to get in last year?

I want to believe, but I'm not sure I see 95 points right now. Damn it

I thiink Vegas did pretty well for themselves. I think they did a good job collecting assets. Will get a better picture before the draft.

Of the 15 4 or 5 will either be bought out or just let their contracts expire. Really leaves 10. A few are still ahl eligible. I only see them moving maybe 2 3 defenseman tops. But they did it right defenseman are worth more than goalies.

And for the doom and gloom about goaltending the goalie market is still very alive. Raanta grubauer etc all want to be starters. Still chances at trades. We haven't gotten through the draft or free agency. Let's leave the we suck everything is terrible for July.

Gusev - Shipachyov - Dadonov

edit: wouldn't be surprised if Kovalchuk ends up there, too. SKA Las Vegas.

If Kovi wants to play for a team that sucks he can just go back to the Devils

Well, I did crack a bottle, just not the bottle.

I can't blame Hexy though, he's already taken away Hak's stepchild and his other favorite example of hard work and structure. If his other top pair Dman had been traded, Hak would have been on suicide watch.

I hope we have a valid celebration for the bottle soon. I wonder what liquor Hak is drowning himself in these last 24 hours

Not upset to lose PEB....good depth 4th line center but it's time to play Laughton or admit they whiffed on a first rnd pick.
I can't believe the Flyers would move the # 2.....It had better include a boatload of talent. Everyone I talk to says the Devils are going to take Patrick. Nico is going to be a first line center. The Flyers have depth in the prospect pool on D....in goal...and have a few young stud forwards coming? Unless they are not sold on either of the two kids a top this draft ? which would seem odd. Chances are they won't be picking this high again for a while.
For those pining for the LVK first pick next year, let me remind you that it's a lottery system and finishing last doesn't get you that top pick automatically.

Some thoughts:

- Surprised by some of the picks for Vegas. Leads me to believe there will be deals today.
- I can actually see a deal where Philly ends up with Pickard and Flyers send a pick/prospect(not A level) and Neuvirth to Vegas.
- With Bellemare gone now it opens up that fourthe line for some combination of Read, Raffl, Weise, Laughton, Vechionne and I still see Bardreau as an option.
- In regards to the sentence above, I can't see them all here to start the season. Have to be some moves to maybe get picks or maybe move a guy to vegas in some 3 way type deal.

A lot of the experts and some sources from Devils are saying it will be Nico.

Assuming they hold on to the 2nd pick, and that Dreger is right, we will be drafting Patrick on Friday. That will leave them with 16 legit forwards with a shot to make the team if Weal is re-signed.

ROSTER LOCKS (10): G, Jake, Coots, Simmer, Schenn, TK, Raffle, Weise, Weal, Filppula

So that would leave the following 6 battling it out for what will likely be 4 more roster spots: Read, Laughton, Patrick, Lindblom, Vecchione, Leier.

Considering he's waiver exempt, Vecchs will have to clearly earn a top 12 spot or he will be going to the Phantoms. Now you're down to 15. So, unless someone is injured or traded, odds are that Leier (who IMO there is little or no risk of losing in waivers) goes to LHV and we have our top 14.

I'm not even going to try to figure out line combos, it's way too early for that.

I guess we will see.....I've only seen each guy play a couple of times. Either one seems good to me. I have a buddy that scouts for the Caps and he says the devils would be nut to pass on Patrick.

VDV and Bellemare both gone could be considered a major shake up
