As they showed Lemieux with a look of , yeah I screwed them

Honestly their 2020 pick is probably more valuable than any their next 3 years. And Vegas gets Fleury to start for them for a few years? I don't know. I think Vegas came out good in that deal. I don't even know why they had to throw in a 2nd.

LOL on Fleury. They were boastin about him about staying late and extra shots and, as A flyers fan would take it, first thought he stays out late for extra shots!

Vegas will roll Fleury-Pickard. That's pretty dang good.

We could roll Bernier-Neuvirth. That's......ummmm.....well if you thought last year was fun!

They have tons of cap space. Not much skin off their back. Fleury is a good goalie, and he gives their team a key guy to promote.

Weren't the combined save percentages of those pairings about the same last year?

Yup. .907 for MAF/Pickard, .906 for Bernier/Neuvirth.

wooo hooo former flyer sergi bobrovsky wins the vezina!
- 2Real

Again ....

Remember when the Flyers benched him for career AHLer Leighton and then demoted him for an unstable goaltender who the Flyers just had to have despite plenty of warning bells being sounded by his previous teammates?

Bob showed a lot of promise as a flyer but was never given the confidence of the coaching staff or organization.

They probably did Bob a favor though as the Flyers have had poorly constructed overpaid defenses for years. Hopefully with the youth coming up and Provorov and Ghost gaining experience the flyers defense is going to improve over the next few years and give whoever is playing in net something to smile about.

Pickard played on one of the worst teams in league history, and that's not a good indicator. You're the one who has mentioned wanting him. He has starting potential. Fleury didn't do well, but he finished strong and obviously his track record dwarfs everyone else's.

Bernier is one of the lesser goalies in the league by advanced stats. Neuvirth is a decent injury prone backup, even ignoring last year. Fleury and Pickard are the two best goalies of the 4. By all means have Bernier and Neuvirth play 82 games for us next year, two backups. Will be a blast. It's not about last year, it's about next year.

Mrazek is worth less than some AHL forward so a 4th should do it.

I like Pickard's potential but I'm not gonna sit here and pretend like I can guess what his SV% will be next season, especially in Vegas.

I don't trust Neuvirth or Bernier to play more than 25 games each as backups. Don't even look at them as better than average platoon guys. If that's our starting goaltending next year, you pray for league average. And that could be enough to sink the team again if not.

They're gonna have a hell of a time getting out of their own zone. With all the D that were available, even after trade considerations, you'd think they could do better than this group of pilons.
- Tomahawk

They clearly did not draft the best team, if they wanted to be cutthroat about it and not take picks. I understand that NHL GMs don't want to step on toes at times and sour relationships, but I think there's legit arguments that those picks are less valuable than some of the players they let them keep.

Exactly -- holy hell. Shea Theodore's gonna learn what pain and suffering truly is after being spoiled in Anaheim

McPhee, to me...man, your ownership paid $500 million to get into the league. You can't be worried about if Chuck Fletcher's gonna be mad that you took Matt Dumba for that kind of payout

Mason was really telling in one of his last post game interviews. Basically acknowledged he plays better when he's "the guy". That doesn't fly when you've got a slew of goalie prospects to give a shot over the next couple years. Also doesn't help when your game is wildly inconsistent.

Bettman should be embarrassed. The league didn't need expansion it needed contraction.

But $$$. Us plebes can see the scam plainly. At least the stadium was privately funded, unlike the NFL team vegas got.

- StepfordSam

For $500 million, I'm walking out of there with more than that

It's the rules! If other GMs don't get it, put yourself in better positions or make a better (frank)ing offer. If they get upset, they're female doges. It isn't Vegas who should have to bend over backwards to appease THEM.
