In general you're getting a player that is 1 year closer to being NHL ready.
- nelson911

Sure in theory but what if the 24th player selected next year has similar value to the play selected 15th this year? Also VGK is in a position where they would want to spread these picks out because they aren't going to want to have to sign 8 RFAs in 1 year. Just look at what position TB was in this off season and they only had 3 key RFAs to sign.

Minnesota pick is Haula, already signed. Traded Tuch to make it happen.

EDIT- think Minnesota got off light if that's all it cost to protect Dumba, Scandella, and Staal

Russo reporting a conditional pick is involved as well.

The was for the comment about no trades being leaked in half an hour, BTW

Yep, I just said in general. Not knowing what other picks they're getting makes it difficult to gauge. I'm sure they'll want some 2018 stuff, but I think the focus will be scoring a lot of 2017 picks to accelerate their choices.

It is already rumored they have acquired picks over the course of the next 3 seasons.

Takers on Pens pick to Vegas for picking Fleury, I'm sticking with 3rd rounder

But we are talking Haula and Tuch vs Dumba
- Feds91Stammer

Yes we are.

Dumba helps the team now. The team is win now. Haula is an rfa and wild cant afford to give him a raise so not much of a loss.

This is what I think too. Don't the pens have two 3rds this year anyways.

Looks like Cody Eakin is being picked by Vegas from Dallas.

One NHL Network analyst predicted VGK would take Lehtonen and possibly trade Fleury. Looks less likely that that happens.

So? Stanley cup champ attends awards show. This is news? I mean clearly he's getting picked but I doubt it's for the draft.

LV is having 3-4 of their new picks on the show tonight. I doubt he is going just for the show.

My guess is 5th rounder. I believe this deal was made in February. The Pens could have potentially traded Fleury back in February, so Vegas had a little less levarage back in February than they do today.

I have a feeling the trade was made back then too. GMJR puts a phone call into McPhee last Feb and asks him if he would be interested in Fleury if he was "available" come the expansion draft. McPhee probably thinks, ya he would be a great player to have in net and be marketable and the deal is made then and there. Contract price isn't an issue as Vegas needs to hit a cap floor anyway.

GMJR could have traded Fleury last deadline as he mentioned he had deals on the table but turned them down knowing he could clear cap space allowing Vegas to take Fleury. I do believe a draft pick is being shipped off...but still feel that one of these picks McPhee says are flips could be heading to the Pens. Bob Mackenzie is correct a lot of times being so plugged in....but I still believe a lot of these have added elements to them. Everything GMJR has touched for two years turns into gold...no reason to think he isn't thinking ahead once again

That makes sense..

but I'll take the long shot, doesnt make any sense, not going to happen approach....VGK get Fleury and our 1st for one of the mid round 1st's that Vegas acquired
